I have to do a horrible thing tonight and I’m not sure I can do it (trigger warning r*pe)

Something awful happened at the weekend, a ‘friend’ raped me, and tonight I have to go and do a video interview. I’m just not sure that I can go through with it. Even thinking about it makes me shake. I’ve done the forensics bit at the weekend, this is just the interview instead of making a statement.

Not sure what I’m posting for really. Has anyone else done one of these before? What if they don’t believe me?

Just another message of support for you OP. You have taken control of this situation, and will be the person others listen to from now on. Huge respect to you - your DD is so lucky to have a such a strong mum x

Hi everyone. Thank you all so much for the support, I appreciate it more than I can say.

interview is done and I’m safely home. It was ok in the end, the police lady was so nice and gentle I felt at ease. The questions were quite intense and I had to go into minute detail which was hard, but she was just lovely. She even gave me a lift home, bless her.

I’m having a glass of wine now and a nice bath to try and relax.

Thank you all again, I don’t have too many people I can talk to about this so it’s nice to spill it out here.

Thank you for having the courage to speak about your experience here as you are going through it, you may not realise how many women and even men you are helping just by sharing how you are feeling.
It's a roller coaster of emotions so take things easy and slowly, accept all the help you can, I really wish I had the strength to report mine xx

Raging for you that
a) he did it
b) he caused you to have to go through the forensic exam
c) he caused you to have to go through the interview
d) he caused you to have to deal with whatever the next bit is
The bastard.

But well done, every step you do is helping to save the next woman from him, and one arrow in the fight to stop bastards like that in general thinking they can just do that if they feel like it and expect no consequences.
So you're helping people like me, who you will never meet, and my little daughters who are growing up in this world. Thank you. Sleep tight xxx

My goodness what an awful thing to happen, I am so sorry this happened.
I just wanted to say though that your strength & bravery here is so inspiring… you are by reporting it, not only preventing this pond life man from doing it again, but you are in a small way, adjusting the appalling stats for how rape is handled here.
I fully understand you feeling it easier to answer alone without worrying about the reactions of others. This in itself is incredible of you.
But please, make sure you have a journey back planned, preferably with a trusted friend or your partner if possible. Then make sure you allow yourself the time & sanctuary with your partner or a good friend to collapse & unravel at home afterwards. Bringing all back to the surface will be worthwhile yes, but terribly draining & disturbing. Having somebody to help you vent & be still would be very helpful.
Well done to you & again I am so sorry.
i hope they get to this poor excuse of a man quickly and that you can begin to recover as you can.
