I have to do a horrible thing tonight and I’m not sure I can do it (trigger warning r*pe)

Something awful happened at the weekend, a ‘friend’ raped me, and tonight I have to go and do a video interview. I’m just not sure that I can go through with it. Even thinking about it makes me shake. I’ve done the forensics bit at the weekend, this is just the interview instead of making a statement.

Not sure what I’m posting for really. Has anyone else done one of these before? What if they don’t believe me?

So sorry this has happened to you.
Hand hold 💐.

I understand wanting to get through it on your own - and you’ll have your DP and toddler around you later on.

I’m so sorry that you are going through this.

Just to join my voice to the others - I am so very sorry this has happened to you. You have done so well, are doing so well. Good luck for this evening, I will be thinking of you.

NorthernPaws · Yesterday 18:04

I think it’s best if I go on my own. I can’t deal with someone else’s reaction to what I have to say, if that makes sense?

If it makes sense to you then it makes sense ! Whatever you need to do to get through the interview is fine. Maybe take something with you that is a token given to you by someone you trust and care about. Having it with you will be like having their support in your pocket.

I am so sorry this happened to you, you are a brave and courageous woman to go through the reporting of your rape, I am sending you my very best wishes and as much strength as you need.

Sending Love, Hugs and 🙏, to the OP, and all the other posters who have been through this harrowing experience. Will be thinking of you tonight OP.💐

I’m really sorry to hear this. You have been amazingly brave. Wishing you all the best. 💐 I hope tomorrow goes well.

NinaGeiger · Yesterday 18:28

We're doing great. We're all in your corner.

EweCee · Yesterday 18:32

You are incredible. Sending strength. And remember - its not your responsibility to take on someone else's feelings or reactions to your trauma. Just focus on yourself and do whatever you need to do for yourself.

Warmlight1 · Yesterday 18:41

Sending warm wishes, you are amazing, and you can do it. Xxx

Sassylovesbooks · Yesterday 18:56

You've taken brave steps to report this person, to start with. Take each process as it comes. Don't think too far ahead. See this interview as taking the control back, after he took your choice and control of the situation away. If you don't want to take someone with you, who can sit and wait for you, then don't. There's no right or wrong way. Sending you much love and strength ❤️

TFImBackIn · Yesterday 19:14

I know it's difficult going alone, but you only have yourself to consider, then. If your partner went with you then you might edit it a little to protect him. I hope you have good friends who can support you now.

DavyCrockettsWildFrontEar · Yesterday 19:16

Thinking of you right now, OP. Sending you support and admiration for your bravery and strength - there's no shame in any decision you make. ❤️

FairyBatman · Yesterday 19:17

I once read something on a similar thread on here and it’s stayed with me since.

Remember that you aren’t alone, all the women that make up this community are standing shoulder to shoulder with you. Generations of us, standing all around you.

Macinae · Yesterday 19:18

I'm so sorry this happened to you, OP. I have no advice but just another person giving you a big virtual hug, from one woman to another. My only two pence is please seek any and all support, whether that's family/friends or professional resources.

PyongyangKipperbang · Yesterday 19:19

I didnt report mine, so you have my unending admiration.

You are so brave, well done. I am thinking of you.

MyrtleLion · Yesterday 19:23

You'll probably read this after the interview, but it will be ok. They will give you breaks and it's a conversation in a comfortable room. There isn't an obvious camera on a tripod or anything. They're in domes in the ceiling.

You are amazing and we love you.

CillianMurphyhasbeautifuleyes · Yesterday 19:24

I am thinking of you as you prepare to go in and I’m holding your hand really tightly!
You can do this, OP.
We are all here for you x
(God bless)

Thinking of you and sending you strength and kindness through the ether

peachie82 · Yesterday 19:29

You are very brave and strong, even to be able to speak to us on here about it. I believe you and the police will too. This is your chance to log all the evidence in your words. There is no wrong answer.

im so sorry this has happened to you. Please be gentle with yourself. Am sending you lots of love.

Piknik · Yesterday 19:30

Thinking of you OP. We've all got you in our thoughts.

whippersnapper55 · Yesterday 19:31

I'm so sorry this happened to you and I think you're incredibly brave 💐 hopefully the police will be experienced in guiding you through the interview and helping make you as comfortable as possible in the circumstances. I can only imagine it will be difficult to go over what happened and answer questions. I really hope when it's over, you feel some relief and you should also feel proud of yourself. Sending you the biggest handhold and lots of love

Yes, a whole army of us. It's a very moving thought, isn't it?
