I have to do a horrible thing tonight and I’m not sure I can do it (trigger warning r*pe)

Something awful happened at the weekend, a ‘friend’ raped me, and tonight I have to go and do a video interview. I’m just not sure that I can go through with it. Even thinking about it makes me shake. I’ve done the forensics bit at the weekend, this is just the interview instead of making a statement.

Not sure what I’m posting for really. Has anyone else done one of these before? What if they don’t believe me?

Thinking of you OP.

Like a lot of people on this forum I'm hoping you are coping and have support. No need to update, just know we are thinking of you.

Thank you everyone. I’ve switched into the mentality that I just want to forget about it so I’m glad I called the police straight away because I’m not sure I would have the strength now.

I’m supposed to be uploading all the messages between me and him to some police site but I just cannot bring myself to read through them. I keep putting it off.

Do you have someone you can trust who could do it for you? I would do it for someone in your situation if I was asked. You are doing so well xx

If there’s no one who you want to help you, can the police do it if you take it in? Or a local survivor group?

Good point

No one will be allowed into the interview.

The OP needs to go what’s best for her - if she doesn't want to do it, then she doesn’t have to. What the man might or might not do afterwards is not her responsibility.

Yeah I wondered about asking the police to do it, but good call about the survivor group. They would probably be the best bet as they would be more understanding.

Once you have uploaded what the Police want that will be something that will no longer trouble you. Every step you take is one more step towards justice.

Sending you a Mumsnet handhold and hug.

Again - so so grateful for everyone that’s taken the time to comment. I truly, truly appreciate it.

I know he was arrested quickly.
I know he was in custody most of the day and was interviewed.
I know he went home and told people (heard it from a mutual friend) that he was NFA’d and that I hadn’t even been on his boat…..!

mutual friend has since blocked me on fb. Which is fine.

One thing I’m worried about is whether they will have searched the boat for evidence - specifically that I was there. He pulled my hair so hard that one of my hair extensions came out - would they have found it? Would they even have looked at the boat? The person in charge of the investigation couldn’t tell me.

Apologies if this has been covered, I’ve only read your posts OP but there’s zero chance he would have been NFAd then, the investigation will take ages, I mean probably a year plus.
