Partner unhappy with my outfit choice for a warm barbecue

So im Currently at a bbq with friends, only a few i dont know.
Its really quite warm and sunny, what i would call beach weather. My DP has quesgioned my chice of clothing on this paricularly warm day which consists of denim mini skirt and a close fitting crop top, its alittle sheer with diamantee style lettering to the front.
In heat like this i would normally be in a bikini in the garden.
I think hes well out of order

He’s allowed to express thoughts but if he’s aiming to control what you wear or deflate you, he’s unreasonable. It’s obviously what you wanted to wear, so he can butt out.

The top isnt as bad as it sounds its black, yes material is a bit thin, its more of a sparkly top rather than full on diamantee.
I do love the sun so i tend to wear a higher factor sun cream and get my legs out. I do understsnd about the dress but the heat is usually not a problem for me

However "inappropriate" might be, its not his place to dictate what you can and can not wear. But as a partner, he is allowed to have an opinion/ point out if you are making a spectacle of yourself.

Denim is hot material. Sheerness does nothing to make a top cooler. If you wanted to be cooler then long, airy, natural materials are best. If you just like the outfit then crack on. Either way it’s not his business to berate you for it, however he is allowed to say he doesn’t like your outfit.

Agree. I find it so strange that men and women cram their bodies into tight-fitting clothes exposing as much flesh as possible in hot weather. In south Asia and other hot countries beautiful saris are worn, sarongs for men, proper cotton, loose, airy, stylish, elegant.
It's no suprise that young teenagers think it'ss acceptabe to expose their buttock cheeks when wearing shorts, even very short skirts. Somebody needs to hold a mirror up behind them before they leave home

Its the last of summer now anyway so unlikely to get the chance to wear skimpys now.
