Denbighshire labour county council cabinet members have resigned en masse. Last week Plaid cabinet members resigned en masse. Poor Denbighshire if it's not bins it's stroppy councillors throwing their 🪇 rattles out of the pram 🙄

One can but hope. Here they've decided to either double yellow line or charge minimum £4 for parking even if you're just popping into a shop. Cars are cash cows.

Chancellor John Healey will shelve his own target of spending 3 per cent of Britain’s GDP on defence by 2030 when he presents his first Budget in October, with tough decisions on how to fund the military pushed down the track.

The chancellor was previously adamant that Britain must increase defence spending to 3 per cent by 2030, notably to address a growing threat from Russia.

In his resignation letter to Starmer in June, the former defence secretary said: “As we have regularly discussed, I am certain that a headmark date for 3 per cent of GDP on defence in 2030 is what Britain must set.”

What have they all resigned over? Which party was/is in charge?

Plaid members wanted the council to back the Plaid cymru party at the senedd who have cut extra SEN provision from 32 million to 8 million for the whole of Wales. This has caused uproar across the whole of Wales btw. So plaid councillors resigned.

Labour have given this as their excuse for resigning. Not everyone is convinced, however.

It's a labour Plaid coalition. In fact the independents have the most seats.

Posted this on the wrong thread never mind here it is ! Burnham most be getting desperate for Money now given that cuts in spending are impossible. I am wondering whats next on the agenda for fiddling with to find a Penny but create £1 worth of damage to the Economy.

Regarding Healey and Mahmood looking the two most 'normal' Labourites , anybody that is still a member of the Labour Party has got to be Cuckoo or desperate for a Salary !

Think this was contrived by Healey, Burnham etc, think he had been promised the job by Burnham, resign first then you will get the position of Chancellor. When he does shelve the target, god help us. What a load of shysters this Labour Government are.

Mahmood and Healey appeared to be the two most normal 'Labourites' . There is no such thing as a normal person who can represent the current Labour Party. With the exception of Graham Stringer who I think the more he talks, sounds more Reform by the day. Obviously Graham Stringer is just running his time down as an MP.

Thing is it's not a cheap holiday here compared to overseas with or without tourists tax. Many more people are day trippers who bring a picnic, sit on the beach, by the lake, they might buy an ice-cream but that's it.

Now if Labour were smart they'd tax air flights, and I'm talking about a hefty tax not a £1 or £2.

Didn't Harold Wilson put a tax on how much money you could spend abroad back in the day. I'll have to look that up.

Well reading the media dad's army are going to be conscripted as needed. Who's going to pay for training them. Will they be in barracks or training in local parks and on beaches every day.

I honestly thought Healy was a decent politician.

How wrong I was.

Currency controls: I asked my Mum about this she said a family could not take out of the country more than £50 in currency hence why Travellers Cheques became popular. Obviously £50 in 1966 was around £ 840 today ! Currency Controls existed until 1979 ! it is not inconceivable the current Government could impose Currency Restrictions if punitive tax rises forces large scale 'Capital Flight' . The very thing Lord O Neil is trying to tell the Cabinet !

It feels quite corrupt as well somehow.

Well at this stage the islanders might listen to him.
