A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 🥀

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Bit late, I posted that ages ago! I think they sit on this news for slow days.

Impressed she can afford it.

AndyKitten · 28/08/2026 19:53

What’s she on about cross subsidising by the state?

It’s the other way around.

SapphireCasino · 28/08/2026 19:53

@CandidLurker by the way I meant that the daily mail will be late, not you

Sorry, I don’t know why I just posted a quick comment

I have been trying not to post 😂 not because I don’t love you all, obviously I do, but the news is just so grim

Why do they keep increasing low-value immigration from people who are unlikely to integrate and contribute? We can all see the consequences, and they know the voting public want it to stop. We've made it obvious enough!

I simply can't get my head around the hubris and bloody mindedness to persistently undermine what everyone in the UK wants and is evidently in the UK's interests in the service of some ridiculous open-border ideology.

DancingFerret · 28/08/2026 17:31

No. And I was going to say earlier I don't trust the stats on the reductions .

This article needs to go viral.
It's utterly woeful.

strawberrybubblegum · 28/08/2026 20:00

I thought Mahmood seemed remarkably sensible for a Labour MP, now we see the truth. Wolf in sheep's clothing.

It is not surprising....incredibly depressing..when will we get a government that works in out interests. When?

No problem. It was an equally quick comment from me. It just makes me wonder what do the current Labour Party and its members actually believe in.

Buses and welfare. Which I suppose equals bus fare.

😂😂😂so true, which is fine if you even have buses we have 1 a day, luckily we all drive😃So glad to read this thread again and feel at home. I have posted before but had a different name, don’t know how, think I logged into a different email, but hey ho back now. Cannot believe they think Burnham is the Messiah! Born and bred Mancunian. Running a business in Greater Manchester. Live in a rural village now. But can tell you all the business people we are involved with are no fans of Burnham. Burnham and his instagram account😳😳wow unbelievable.

redange · 28/08/2026 23:26

Manchester's current Economic Prosperity is down to a number of things, not one of them is to do with Andy Burnham's time as Mayor. Firstly, Manchester is benefitting from the forward thinking of people like Graham Stringer and David Bernstein ex Manchester City Chairman. These are the type of characters who took Manchester forward after the 1996 IRA Bomb in the Arndale. Bernstein in particular was able to get the Commonwealth Stadium and games in 2002 , which enabled Manchester City to become a viable product . This, eventually leading to the wholescale development of East- Manchester via huge Investment from Abu- Dhabi. Graham Stringer when leader of Manchester Council between 1984-1996 was able to bring Urban Splash and type developments in to the city . This, in turn has led to the 'Sky Scrapers' coming now, but would never had happened without Tom Bloxham and Urban Splash Developments in the early 1990s. The Strength of Graham Stringer and Bernstein being that they were very 'pro business' and one of Stringers greatest strengths being he was not 'tribally' Labour and was only interested in what was right for Manchester.

Burnham has just 'Scrounged' on what the previous Councils and Business People of Manchester created, during the time when he was deciding whether to be 'Actor' or a Politician !

Gutted he's quit the shadow cabinet though.

For those who don't know what we're on about, James Cleverly has quit the shadow cabinet and will run for mayor of London.

The reshuffle is definitely on then. Looking forward to Katie Lam.

I will vote for Cleverly. That’s done!

Labour don't get it do they. People can see what's going on in their communities. Changing the official status of these men so that Labour can pretend there are less of them won't help.

I thought Mahmood and Healey were decent. Both have shown their true colours recently.
