Oh, wouldn’t Dolly have loved that? ❤️

Saucery · 26/08/2026 17:46

There’s a woman in some of my local FB groups who comments This Is England every time there’s a post about flags. I can’t help but visualise her as Combo in a wig.

I’m not an atheist but it sorely tries faith when Dolly Parton and Tim Curry are gone and there’s still some absolute horrors of 80yr olds still walking around. Yeah, yeah, not very Christian of me, I know.

The full version of the guards playing Nine to Five is on the MoD's social media pages. It is glorious!

5128gap · 26/08/2026 19:11

Just been playing I hope you're never happy. Love the honesty.😊

Satan needs to wake up.

Oh, he really does! Lazy sod.

cardibach · 26/08/2026 23:22

Death is definitely focusing on the wrong heavily made up 80 year olds…
Home from choir tour knackered, dehydrated and slightly dizzy from coach/ferry/coach/taxi for a combined 13 hours. I’ll be right after a cuppa and a sleep. Just sitting with windows and doors open to get some air into the house. I’ll post the video of our commissioned piece when the proper recording is available.

We have rain! Finally. A long and heavy downpour through the night, and it's still drizzling. There's still a yellow warning in place for thunderstorms, so looks like the garden will get its much-needed drenching.

5128gap · 27/08/2026 08:04

My lawn is greening up already.

TemperanceWest · 27/08/2026 08:16

Same here!

BIossomtoes · 27/08/2026 08:17

It seems it’s going to rain until lunch time here. It smells wonderful.

pointythings · 27/08/2026 08:28

Woke up to some really major thunder, heavy rain here too. Tortellini is most annoyed and has come in for the first time since May - she lives in the catio pretty much all summer.

itsgettingweird · 27/08/2026 08:43

We didn’t have thunderstorms as predicted but we’re in between and below a few smoke with headaches halfway through the night!

Have got a little rain here - more like drizzle! But that’s probably good to start softening the ground.

Drove along the A31 yesterday for the first time since the fire. It’s was devastating to see such damage to such a beautiful area.

LizzieW1969 · 27/08/2026 08:48

It was supposed to rain yesterday but didn’t. Storms are forecast for today so hopefully our lawn will have a drenching today too.

I’m meeting up with a friend in the city centre so I’ll probably get a drenching too. 🤣

DuncinToffee · 27/08/2026 08:55

We have some rain but not a lot. Luckily no flood warnings.

We had rain overnight but no water in the taps due to the umpteenth burst water main. The main road out of the village is still closed to fix the previous one.

Properly bucketing down here. We have lights on in the house.

DuncinToffee · 27/08/2026 10:32

Sun is out and our water butts are still mostly empty.

New immigration stats show that the numbers of asylum seekers in hotels is down to 16k - falling 50% in a year.

Small boat crossings down 23% in the year to June.

Numbers waiting for initial decision down from almost 180k to 40k.

This is shocking. Who is behind it?
