One should always be careful about what one wishes for.

Anyway they wanted a general election as well. From July 2024.

DuncinToffee · 25/08/2026 16:16

They were happy to back Reform to get Labour out.

A few now seem lured to Restore

I had a Reform leaflet today . Four pages of glossy colour telling us how they were not wasteful of resources.

I decided to wind up Reform by recycling it in a Woke Fashion.

They got what they wanted, Starmer and Reeves are out.

Yep. Now Labour is either leading in the polls or neck and neck with Reform. The heady days of Reform leading with 30% + in the polls are loooong gone. Is buyer's remorse setting in?

All they have right now is to lash out at immigrants and other easy targets. And us "Labour lot"🤣They need to be careful, so much anger is not good for one's health.

@Llttledrummergirl you are right. No point expending time and energy right now, it makes no difference. I must try to remember that!

Yes. With a fair dollop of paranoia mixed in at times, too. It is quite odd.

I think the paranoia comes from the fact the tide is turning.

suddenly Reform etc are being held to
account for their actions and Labour have a leader who’s actually being given the time of day and some media attention.

Good work Piggy
I did a lot of canvassing for the election in 2024 plus the recent council elections also join in with my local CLP canvassing every few weeks our MP is extremely visible & works hard in the constituency I find it easier discussing concerns/issues f2f rather than the some of threads on MN it takes me a long time formulating replies, also painfully aware my spag leaves a lot to be desired which can make me a target (have experienced this previously) I’m grateful that the posters on these threads have probably got used to my ramblings & musings without feeling the need to point out my obvious shortcomings.

BIossomtoes · 25/08/2026 18:28

A lot of them are really pissed off with the quantity and quality of the coverage Burnham’s getting. Meanwhile Farage is suspiciously quiet, it’s a bit like when a child goes silent and you suddenly wonder what mischief they’re up to.

Karistyleaftea · 25/08/2026 18:32

I have had to sit on my hands for a very, very long time regarding Andy Burnham becoming PM the way he did ( I really appreciate you missing me @dontcallmelen ,thank you) and I do want him to succeed.
We need Labour .
I felt so gutted about the media's treatment of Keir Starmer .
He turned Labour into an electable party again imo so onwards and upwards, hopefully.
Also I hope Mr B's recovery is progressing well @blossomtoes and that you are doing ok .

BIossomtoes · 25/08/2026 18:36

Thank you @Karistyleaftea. The answer is yes on both scores. The recovery is near miraculous so far. Touch wood.

SerendipityJane · 25/08/2026 18:42

Local FB page is rammed with whinges about the disappearance of the newly elected Reform councillors.

Turns out the previously Tory councillors were doing things after all.

@Karistyleaftea really glad you are back, I’m still not over the moon the way Andy Burnham became leader & I don’t fully trust him but am more than willing to give him a chance Yy we need Labour & hopefully if they continue improving communications, take on Reform & the total shite they spout rather than trying to emulate we have a chance of improving people’s lives.
@BIossomtoes so glad Mr B is recovering well & hope you are ok💐

Oh no, I didn’t know she was ill. I’m sure I read last week she was extending her book reading scheme in to a new area. What an amazing woman.

Same here.

The world needs more like her.

Evenstar · 25/08/2026 19:49

Very sad to hear about Dolly Parton, in an age of wealthy “celebrities” and tech billionaires who do nothing to help others she was a notable exception. I think there was an announcement last week that she had been ill, but it sounded as though she was improving.
