She's a Reform councillor.

Which,as I said, wasn't stated in the article.

Squirrels might not click on the link for fear of spontaneous combustion and so therefore won't believe it (yes I know it doesn't make sense).

Piggywaspushed · 20/08/2026 13:49

Was that article written by an intern?? It's unclear throughout in so many ways...

Fools rush in where squirrels fear to tread?

I couldn't make head nor tail of it either.

New thread title when the time comes?

Me either although I’m baffled by lots of stuff.
Just reading about the awful event in shoreham, so heartbreakingly sad such a tragedy.

I was once caught in a huge freak wave in Denia, Spain. I ended up halfway along the beach from where I started, was rolled around like a washing machine. Terrified me, but I was glad to be safe.

Hate to hear of tragic accidents by the sea. That poor family, so awful 😞

dontcallmelen · 20/08/2026 17:08

Nearly the same experience I had in Kerala the wave knocked me over turned me upside down I didn’t know which way was what graze & cuts on my knees & shoulder was a fair way from where I started when I surfaced was really very frightening I can only imagine the fear the poor family endured.

Efacsen · 20/08/2026 17:51

An eye witness to the tragedy in Shoreham described a notorious rip-tide along that bit of coast

This Emma Monk thread is worth reading.

As she outlines we have reached a new level of disinformation.

Would be interesting to discover who created the page (and who paid them to create it)

It seems the extremes are running out of stupid people to suck in, so have to "go big".

The problem is there is a proven correlation between "thicker than pigshit" and "don't vote" (for whatever reason).

Notonthestairs · 20/08/2026 18:28

I don’t think they care about voting.
It’s about provoking people.

I don't see that as a problem. The gobbiness is annoying but I'm happy with these people not voting.

I await the MN thread.

Who is behind this?

Notonthestairs · 20/08/2026 18:36

I don’t think the creators/sponsors care about ballot boxes.

People who might think they’d benefit from some “grassroots, concerned citizens, direct action”.

The only thing any political party wants is votes.

Just ask the Lib Dems. Or Greens.

As a going concern, your £:vote ratio is all that matters.

It won't be "provoked people" that will evict Trump for example. It will be registered voters.

Notonthestairs · 20/08/2026 18:54

Why would we assume it was created by a political party?

There are plenty of moneyed dick swingers out there hoping to sponsor a bit of unrest via media disinformation.

But maybe you are right, it's a Tory/Reform/Restore attempt to disrupt (but via a third party for plausible deniability)

DuncinToffee · 20/08/2026 19:03

If it originated on X, I would look for foreign interference.

OP posts:
itsgettingweird · 20/08/2026 19:10

Bloody scary whatever the source.

But I agree I assumed foreign interference over home grown

TemperanceWest · 20/08/2026 19:29

Agree not home grown.

Agree I can’t see it being homegrown still bloody scary though.

^Yes I’m with you there. It’s preferable that people with those views don’t vote.
