I get professional cleaners to do these for me because just no....life is too short.

That doesn't surprise me in the least. I know a man who is too cheap to hire anyone to do anything around his house, with the result that his house is in a poor state because of the DIY which he does very badly.

If your 'D'P isn't impressed, they can always crack on with those tasks themselves. Either that or they can STFU.

Yes, as others have said an average DIYer can replace parts on a boiler, drain the system, install and replace radiators, valves, replace a toilet…

Tiling, get a professional every time.

I agree. I won’t clean the oven. I used to pay someone to do it when I was single. My husband refuses to pay, so he cleans it.
I also won’t clean my car.
I also refuse to paint my own nails and get them done every three weeks, but that might be slightly off topic!

Bloody hell no. Ive lived in some right hovels that were a DIY disaster area where the owner thinks he can do DIY and the whole house was a disaster area.
Now I wont buy a house unless the seller has receipts for all the major work done.

I could rewire and do plumbing, but I won’t as I’m leaving that to the professionals, especially if my boiler needs anything doing to it. I want proof that a competent/qualified person has done this work and properly safety tested it.

Colleague of mine has decided he’s going to fit his own EV charger. His take on it is it’s “no more difficult than a shower”. Dick head. Having seen mine fitted, that’s one complicated shower!!

In my entire life (I'm in my 60's) I've never paid for an oven cleaner or professional house movers. I've moved several million times, always done it with cars, hired vans, help from friends etc. Next time we move it'll be the last hopefully so I'm considering that just the once.
Oven cleaning- paid for it the first time ever the other week, lovely lady turned up, had a lovely chat, oven was fabulous. I'm converted!
