Cleaning the oven.
Cleaning the car.

I get professional cleaners to do these for me because just no....life is too short.

I would love to have the money to delegate most household tasks . I am so bored with it and it's never ending . I can't think of one task that I would rather do myself . So really need a household manager to do food shopping , cooking , laundry , ironing , hoovering , mopping, bed changing, etc. etc...
This would free me up to do absolutely bugger all if I wanted to .

Yes please! Bugger all and plenty of it.

I can’t believe people use their ovens so much that they need cleaning weekly. I honestly can’t think when the oven was last used. Possibly Easter when I baked.

What do you use instead? An air-fryer? We are a family of 5 so the air-fryer generally isn’t big enough. I cooked a moussaka in the oven last night. I’ll roast a chicken in it today.

boundarysponge · 26/07/2026 08:26

That’s not food I eat really. Not keen on pizza and don’t eat meat. I tend to eat a lot of salads and stir fries. Haven’t made moussaka in years. If I’m cooking for a crowd I tend to do buffet style as so many dietary needs. Use the air fryer for most things.

Dontcallmescarface · 26/07/2026 08:31

Ironing - haven't done it for 16 years
Clean the car inside and out - I take it to the local hand wash place
Mow the lawns - I pay £20pm for someone else to do it and it's worth every single penny.
Cook at the weekend - either a takeaway/snacks/DP does it.

We eat a lot of stir fries and salads too (the roast chicken is for a salad) but still use the oven about 3-4 times a week for various things. It doesn’t get cleaned weekly though, i can’t be arsed with that! I have it professionally cleaned twice a year (June and December).

I pay €12 for a car wash, inside and out. It comes out gleaming and smells amazing inside like cherries

And I get a free coffee while I wait.

If it was that cheap here I'd have mine done all the time but it's more like £50/60 here!

Gettingbysomehow · 26/07/2026 09:18

Id outsource all the cooking if I could.
I dont eat any processed food so it should be easy but I hate cooking with a passion and I,m no good at it.

What madness is this. An in and out clean where we live in the south west is at least £40!

And no free coffee either 😂😂

Summergarden · 26/07/2026 09:21

VivIsBlonde · 25/07/2026 19:53

Lol
it doesn’t take long to clean an oven if you wipe it down after every use and then do a proper clean on it once a week!

God that sounds so boring. I’m with the OP, would much rather just get an oven cleaner pro in to sort it now and again instead.

The free coffee was the bit I was most offended at missing out on to be honest 🤣not only am I getting ripped off price wise, I’m not getting nice treats!

Wow that's a bargain!
Mine costs £20 inside and out (SE England) and I thought that was a bargain. It's the cheapest one in the area too. They do a fantastic job and even vacuum inside the boot.

It really depends on the size of the car.

£35 for my small Nissan Leaf!

VideoVox · 26/07/2026 11:51

I do most things myself, mostly because my standards are fairly low and I don’t care if it’s a bit sloppy.

Professional oven clean is worth it though, and I do like getting meal kits occasionally.

How can it be boring?
less than half a hour to clean an oven 🤣🤦🏻‍♀️ where I live people charge £80 to come and clean an oven, no thank you!

VivIsBlonde · 26/07/2026 11:55

floppybit · 26/07/2026 02:56

Clean the oven once a week?! It’s a once a year job here 😂

🤣🤣

VivIsBlonde · 26/07/2026 11:59

Pinkchickenwine · 25/07/2026 22:33

I manage a once a year professional oven clean and a holiday!

I’d rather use my time weekly to read!

Where I live they charge a minimum of £80 to clean an oven once, I’d rather have my 5/6 holidays abroad and my weekends away than pay that!

Sounds boring to me too. I could spend half an hour a week doing it, or I could spend that half an hour doing things I find more interesting and pay someone else to clean the oven. I don’t know why other people paying for a service that they don’t want to do themselves is so baffling to you!

But surely you understand that everyone’s finances are different? Paying someone to clean our oven doesn’t affect my holiday budget. Just like paying to have my car cleaned doesn’t affect my holiday budget.
I even got someone in to deep clean our house while I was on holiday! It was lovely coming back to a spotless house.

Gettingbysomehow · 26/07/2026 12:32

I have to say I do love ironing. If Im miserable, fed up or in a mood its like a kind of meditation that restores balance.

I only clean my oven when I move house. So about every 10 years.

TheignT · 26/07/2026 12:44

palorina · 25/07/2026 20:17

I have my grass cut regularly March to October. I pay to have my drive and back patio powerwashed. No, I am not doing either of those jobs. I don't use the oven much so that's not an issue with me.

I'm the same. I hope and pray I never need to mow the lawn again.

I guess everyone's likes/dislikes are different.

Do share how £80 covers five or six holidays a year plus weekends away. Might stop a day out for me. I must be doing something wrong.

It really depends on the size of the car.

And how grubby it is. My husband used to do a job where he was driving all week. His car did get messy. When he took it to get it cleaned inside and out he was told he'd have to pay extra as it was dirty. He asked how many people pay to have clean cars cleaned. They had no answer.

I have my oven cleaned and have 19/20 holidays abroad a year!
