I would if I lived there. I suspect the anti-Farage vote will be quite strong. Remains to be seen whether the Farage voters, who don’t, let’s remember, habitually vote (in many cases), turn out or not…

I'd probably vote for Farage to make him pay and be accountable.

Delayed tax from me as I've been camping at an event where DH was competing with one of the dogs. Took the non competing dog off for a nice long beach walk as we weren't allowed to distract them. It was a bit windy.

I think he has more chance of bouncing back from being held accountable than from a loss in Clacton. His supporters are keen on the idea of the establishment conspiracy so will be mistrustful of the process and outcome. What he wouldn't come back from is humiliation by the public after banging on about they're the only ones who should judge him.

Voting him back in is a judgement though. More along the lines of you started this, you shall finish it.

I can see the advantages of both outcomes - which is why it’s so fab. Lose-lose for Farage, win-win for everyone else.

What's the advantage if Farage loses, apart from humiliation which he's very much used to in his political career.

He’d be done. He’d never recover from the humiliation nor would the rest of his company party. Without Farage there’s no Reform.

He’s not an MP. The people of Clacton aren’t represented by a racist. The humiliation will set him back. Also some of the investigations aren’t dependent on him being an MP so he’ll still face those - plus the consequences of the parliamentary investigation just give him another chance to run a by election, which he might win in a normal set up.

Actually if he can sell ‘the establishment stitched me up’ after an investigation he’s probably quite likely to win off the back of it.

The thing is a bank robber or paedophile can also claim they are being "stitched up by the establishment", if you want to look at it that way. As can anyone who wants to break the law.

It's not a great argument.

You need to be careful with some of those polls. Without seeing the actual questions, you can't tell how much "curating" has gone on.

As a point in hand. did they offer a "none of the above" option ?
