Zack Polanski

Reform UK reporting Green leader Zack Polanski to police over Instagram post

The post included a photo of a man wearing a top featuring the name "Nigel" alongside an image of a guillotine.

Am I the only one thinking it’s only incitement to murder if a guillotine happened to be at hand? Do they still have any in France?

DuncinToffee · Yesterday 21:11

It's a bit rich coming from that lot.

And stupid from Polanski to post it without checking the image.

Hate to say I’m with Farage on this. It’s not acceptable, it wouldn’t be acceptable aimed at any other politician and Polanski should have been more careful what he shared on IG. I truly hope this is the only time I ever find myself agreeing with Farage.

TemperanceWest · Yesterday 21:22

I agree @Saucery . Especially given what has just happened.

Andy Burnham appoints Bridget Phillipson as Labour party chair

Yep, the reform councils thread is full of clowns who share this sort of shit. It's not acceptable from someone who seemingly almost by accident ends up being a councillor and it's definitely not acceptable from a party leader who expects to be respected and taken seriously.

I can't stand Streeting but a minister batting hard for his department is a bit of a non-story.

He’s threatening the PM, not batting hard for his department. I can’t think of any Labour figure I’d be less happy to head up defence.

Do you think that is what he is actually doing or is that how it is being reported/spun?

He is a weasel either way and I wish Burnham hadn't given him a job.

I agree that Burnham’s judgement was lacking with this appointment.

PickAChew · Yesterday 22:44

Hopefully if he's really going to walk it happens sooner, rather than later. I hear Kemi needs new recruits.

I’ve no idea really. I just think it’s something he’s capable of. Throwing his weight around, thinking he’s been the Kingmaker. I agree - I wish a Burnham hadn’t given him a job too.

Yes and AB had absolutely no need to soften WS up with a job to stop him standing because WS stood absolutely no chance of getting elected against AB.

BIossomtoes · Yesterday 23:24

I suspect the job was on the basis that it was better to have him inside the tent pissing out.

Badvocthebad · Today 00:19

Well.
WS being a weasel!?
Who knew?
🙄
Oh, hang on...everyfucker knew 🙄

Lord Ashcroft on the Clacton by-election

''Meanwhile, the pollster Michael Ashcroft has revealed that focus groups in Clacton, where Farage is campaigning for a seat in the House of Commons in a byelection triggered by his own resignation, have highlighted growing anger at the Reform UK leader.
Constituents have accused Farage of using them as “pawns in his little game” to rebuild his personal reputation, expressing frustration at the financial cost imposed on a low-income area purely to satisfy his desire to prove his popularity, Lord Ashcroft writes on his website.
Voters also voiced criticism over Farage’s disconnect from everyday residents, pointing to his wealth and failure to hold regular constituency surgeries, Ashcroft said. Discontent was further compounded by the absence of major party candidates from the byelection, leaving residents feeling abandoned by the political establishment and forced to choose between Farage or satirical options.''

BIossomtoes · Today 08:30

That’s going well for him then.

5128gap · Today 08:43

I'm not surprised the people of Clacton are angry, and that the anger is being directed more widely than at Farage. I think it was always a risk that in humiliating Farage by turning the whole thing into a national joke, people there would consider themselves as a prop in the gag and think their whole town was being laughed at, which is a shame for those who didnt support Reform. I hope that when the time comes for the 'real by election' Labour can do some serious relationship building in Clacton.

BIossomtoes · Today 08:46

I’m rather hoping there won’t be any need for a “real” by-election. I reckon the Clacton electorate would be far better served by Binface for the next three years than they have been by Farage.

Evenstar · Today 08:49

Well, look who else is a Reform supporter 🤢

Yes, I'd love this to be the outcome. The odds are not in favour though. So assume there will be another go round.
