Hence my caveat about it being a snapshot.

But this far into the most unpopular government since before time began, it's rather odd to see a rise in polling. It does suggest that the move away from Labour the centre may have been built on shallow foundations.

I mean nothing happens in a vacuum, and how much the bin fire that is the US is seeping into the public conciousness.

The downward trend of both the Greens and Reform has been going on for some time and is different

According to Luke Tryl it has little or nothing to do with Labour's polling and is due to the 'difficulties' being experienced by both leaders Polanski/Farage

In the case of Reform it might be people have fallen out of love with Farage and will go back to not voting at all?

It was always a risk to appeal to people who had never voted before. They may not be the most loyal supporters.

However ever since 2024, a running sore theme of Reform has been a hard limit to the appeal of Nigel Farage. Basically they had peaked polling as the remaining unpersuaded voters detest Farage. Regardless of their relationship to right wing parties.

And the cult of Farage is corroding Reform itself. I mean none of their top flight members are not going to have leadership aspirations themselves. Especially for 2029.

Still that's their problem. I'm sure they can manage without my help or insights. I know I can.

I know it’s the Mail, but what’s Streeting up to? Is he hoping to depose another PM and run himself, given that’s what Healey did at the start of the whole Starmer affair? Whatever it’s about it’s madness. I stand by my comment regarding rats and this man.

If I see that anywhere else I might consider believing it. Given that it’s the Mail I’ll assume it’s shitstirring.

It would be interesting if the very first place a Labour Defence Secretary stopped off on their way to agitate would be the Daily Mail.

I did say it was the Mail and therefore suspect.

Unless I am mistaken, the TL:DR is actually more like:

"Wes Streeting agrees to quit if he can't do the job".

But obviously spun so as to try to make the Prime Minister the bad guy.

He’s quoted as saying that he wouldn’t have taken the job without prior assurances from Burnham and Healy that defence would be properly funded. It really didn’t take long, did it?

So why the drama ?

I can't stand Streeting but a minister batting hard for his department is a bit of a non-story.

That's just on those figures for one poll

The trend over months with lots of polls has been greens returning to labour since polanski became the leader of the greens

Whatever his reason, I certainly wouldn't be trying to persuade him to stay.

Nad I guess as Burnham is a move to the left for Labour it makes sense.
