I 'met' him (aka was in a group of other people he was chatting with) at MN's 10th birthday party. Along with Sarah and Gordon Brown. Sarah Brown gave an amazing speech - Gordon was definitely second in command that night! GB was much more charismatic 'in the flesh' and Ed was definitely much more handsome than he comes across via the media.

Kemi Badenoch has written to Andy Burnham to say the Tories are "happy" to work cross-party on reforming social care.... but only if he rules out the only two ways you could realistically pay for it (contributions from individuals, or higher taxes/borrowing).

She will vote for it if it's fixed for free?

That's almost like the MiL who will lend you money for a deposit .... on her terms.

However, the difference here, is Kemi has no "money" with which to bargain.

Not surprising given they ducked the issue whilst in power (because of the age of their voters).

The Lib Dems are at least genuinely interested in this issue.

Badenoch acts as though she holds all the cards. Burnham can just say thanks, but no thanks.

She must be a nightmare to work with.

I suspect she is. Davey is a much better bet, particularly given his personal experience.

Shame the Tories didn't invite consensus on Brexit or the pandemic decisions.

(Although weirdly the MN line is to blame Labour far more than the Tories for lockdown. Exhibit "B" in the "You can't call them fucking stupid vs. #'bekind;" case that is often being heard in the court of my mind.)

So not just 'fixing' it on her terms - but intends to fight it

How will they fight it? They can't.

They'll stamp their feet and call people names.

Badenoch will dazzle at PMQs as she thinks she does every week and Jenrick will keep asking the question "Where are we?"

Jenrick and Badenoch, both part of the government that did do fuck all about social care despite big promises.
