Fiona Cottrell seems to have given away most of her wealth to Reform. How very generous of her.

I really think this is it, the beginning of the end for them. I would be very unsurprised if this turns out to be a case of the Nathan Gills or similar.

Wouldn't it be lovely to see Tice and Farage in prison.

Notonthestairs · 26/07/2026 08:28

Was it her wealth? We will see.

itsgettingweird · 26/07/2026 08:29

Derxa I wasn’t readi g when you posted about your brother. I
very sorry to hear he died and so young.

However I also haven’t read any posts dismissing how difficult that would have been. People are pointing out that out of tradegy you got an inheritance - that inheritance afforded you privilege you wouldn’t otherwise have afforded. (I assume). That doesn’t undermine your grief or dismiss it.

I'm not 100% against private education but against people who pay for the privilege complaining about VAT and rising costs. Personally the more I’ve read I prefer and see the benefit of the Finnish system but we have private education here so pay for it if you can afford it or use state like the rest of us because you can’t 🤷‍♀️ if you are complaining about the cost you can’t afford it!

Perhaps it was just resting in her bank account after its long journey from Russia.

I expect it was. You’d think they could have found a more credible mule.

Efacsen · 26/07/2026 08:36

That by-election isn't providing much distraction from the steady drip drip of financial shenanigans

It’s a bit difficult to use it as a distraction when Farage can’t put his nose outside without the mainstream media challenging him about them.

Reform UK’s bank account was frozen during the last election after the party received potentially illegal donations from the mother of George Cottrell, the criminal who bankrolled Nigel Farage.
The party was unable to make or receive payments through its account with Arbuthnot Latham, a London private and merchant bank, for a two-week period that included polling day on July 4, 2024.

Times link (apologies its behind a pay wall - I cant work out how to gift share).

Nigel Farage’s party could not make or receive payments for two weeks during the 2024 general election campaign, The Sunday Times can reveal

No rain here but very cloudy

Very fine drizzle here - that's all - desperate for rain

PickAChew · 26/07/2026 09:11

The ground is wet and it was raining when I woke up but there's hardly anything in the dish I have on the ground, which had a drop in before the rain arrived.

It will probably piss down, after lunch, as that's when I need to walk up the road with one of my machines, for a class.

An ecumenical matter?

It was absolutely throwing it down a little while ago when I got up, has made a difference to the plant. The sun is out again now though.

Oh please let this be the downfall of Reform! I really think Restore are too Nazi for most people and won't fill that gap.

I think you’re right about Restore, and it will be a massive disappointment to Elon Musk after all his support for that party.

TemperanceWest · 26/07/2026 09:49

The MN Reformites are definitely rattled.

The MN Reformites are definitely rattled.

They’re going to be even more upset now that Burnham has ruled out an early general election, and they realise that he can’t be forced to call one.

I noticed that. The thing with parties like Reform is that they always eat themselves. It's in their nature - because they think they're better than others, which is an inherent part of their racist and xenophobic ethos, they act as if the rules don't apply to them. But they do, so they crash and burn. Let's hope they never learn.

DuncinToffee · 26/07/2026 00:08

I don't know what you want from us tbh, one moment you are having a go and the next you are seeking support.

I agree with Efacsen, I can't be bothered with your comments any more.

Alice Roosevelt every time ....

placemats · 26/07/2026 10:56

they act as if the rules don't apply to them.

Very true @pointythings and they have to be careful about what they post on social media sites, such as this one.

DuncinToffee · 25/07/2026 21:15

Lab Lib pact?

Lateral thinking ?

If the electoral can't deliver democratic representation, then work around it, rather than wringing your hands saying "if only someone could do something about it" for 5 fucking decades.

It certainly costs fuck all to have a civil engagement with people who were elected for different views. A broad consensus on major matters would blunt extremist rhetoric. Not that it would stop the less fashionable.

TemperanceWest · 26/07/2026 11:28

Gove talking about Burnham : he can't have his Eccles cake and eat it 🙄

cardibach · 26/07/2026 11:41

I blame Govefor everything I can’t reasonably blame Thatcher for. And I blame Thatcher for Gove.
