I love my mum and I know she loves me. But her politics could very easily by linked to "will this hurt Persephone's personal interests" despite not in any way wishing me ill. For example, when I was a student it was generally agreed all students these days were lazy except she was very proud of me for being a student. I think it's a result if reading negative things about groups in the papers and just assuming the real world contradictions to those stereotypes are the exceptions. Rather than thinking maybe the Daily Mail was lying...

Same here. I don’t use the bus much myself, so it doesn’t make any difference to me, plus we can afford to pay more. But I know people who will really benefit from a £2.00 cap.

In the days of VPN, throwaway SIMs and equally disposable email accounts, it's probably pretty much impossible to link malicious posters to each other. I think they need follow the mantra of "if it looks like a duck..." with these accounts.

In these days of "AI" it's becoming trivial to sylistically link posters. Especially lazy or less bright ones who allow autocorrect/spearchuckers loose without restraint. Over enough plaintext, there can be tells. (to use a poker term).

But does it translate to a street/road in a town with a population of 25,000, ten miles to the nearest bigger town (pop 75,000), approx 6 mins by car on Google maps which is always double if you're lucky and then you have to find parking and you're not on the app so it's the supermarket that thankfully gives free parking for up to two hours:

AND if especially lucky a always 7 minute travel by train - though some may be cancelled delayed so add on extra time and remember it's about a mile walk to the centre of the town

I have to say that everything I’ve heard out of Burnham’s mouth so far has been largely positive!

I like the bus fare cap. I credit Sue Townsend with this- "two 50ps for the Queen and I".

The book was called The Queen and I and was very funny.

The bus fare won't affect us- busses from near home to near work are few and far between. I think it's a good thing.

I live in one of those houses so despised on Mumsnet with many, many buses going past, each hour.

They both have bus passes and I can travel with either of them as a companion but on the rare occasion I get to venture out alone, I'll not mind a single being 50p cheaper (our regional Mayor has given us a £2.50 cap, since it went up to £3 for most people)

Been mulling over Louise Haigh's new role and this really doesn't sit comfortably with me.
Quite apart from whether her conviction for fraud should make her unfit for high office or not - I can't help feeling that Andy Burnham has presented a gift to the press immediately. This feels like Starmer's glasses again.

It sounds like the Patriotic Millionaires. Gary Stevenson is one of them.

The Tories said the £5 million payment looks like ‘disguised remuneration’.

They’ve got a point. Apparently Farage said he’d need £1m a year to be an MP. Et voila the exact amount he said he would need for a parliamentary term appeared in his bank account just before he announced his candidacy. I wonder of he’ll give Harborne £3m back if he loses next month?
