I agree with what you posted. I was just sharing a thought about giving more oxygen to those sort of vile tweets. I haven't closed anything down.

I’m asking as, having kept an eye on this thread since it started, it seems “outsiders” seem to not be as accepted. Just asking because if it’s the case that it’s a close knit community I won’t bother.

Same here. Have been quite surprised (not in a good way) at how salty some of the PPs have been.

I disagree with some of what you say here.

I'm offering my opinion in what I see in the same way I did with Starmer. The difference is that while I may not always have agreed with what and how Starmer did things, I did trust that he had what he thought was the countries best interest in mind he he made those decisions.

I don't have the same trust in Burnham after his behaviour to get into the PM position, I don't have the same trust in those who helped put him there (and now have plum jobs as a result), and I don't trust his motives.

He needs to show me he can be trusted and so far, appointments like Haigh, and ministers who can't explain the plan, or the costings aren't inspiring trust. They are doing the opposite.

He came in saying he would make big changes, yet he won't say what they are or how they will be funded. This should have been a fundamental basic and nailed down before they ousted Starmer in my opinion.

I'm not asking for the changes to come into effect today, just what the big, amazing plan is.

Eta: is it Van Heel or van Heel. I've seen it written both ways, not sure which is correct.

These threads have been long running going back years, there is a core group of posters but new posters join all the time.

It can get heated at times, like now, but normally it is relaxed and friendly.

We are guilty of being suspicious of 'outsiders' because we have experience with disruptors. It will all settle down soon enough if you fancy hanging around.

The Dutch way is 'van Heel'

Starmer didn't land as leader of the Labour party like Botticelli's Birth of Venus, fresh from a scallop shell. There was a lot of jiggery pokery before he came to power and I write that as someone who much preferred Starmer to Corbyn.

Frankly no party leader comes to that position with clean hands. It's always down to how internal divisions are exploited. (Although I suppose Farage just demoted Tice & pocketed the £5 million, the benefits from owning your own party I suppose.)

All political careers end in failure. It's the nature of it all. We should be hoping that Burnham's comes later rather than earlier.

Maybe I'm old fashioned and I think policies should be announced in Parliament. Of course the bloody waste of time that is conference season will fuck that up.

I find myself agreeing with both @Llttledrummergirl and @Notonthestairs re Burnham’s rise to power (and Starmer’s - I was a Corbyn supporter so could see that was messy). I appear to be somewhat on the fence about many things - but I criticised Starmer for not being more radical and the same criticism will be much more strongly applied if Burnham isn’t radical -that was the point of him!

I have voted for Labour and conservatives over the years. I don’t mind sharing that information.

Fortunately, Burnham has no mandate and is literally an imposter at this point. Until he has a majority in a GE or will carry little to no authority whatsoever. Starmer wasted two years, soon this nightmare will be over. Sooner if the corruption surfaces faster than the Burnham team can close it down.

Your man is facing a shit load of scrutiny in the next few weeks and months. His honeymoon ended yesterday and now the gloves are off. This country is utterly sick of the Labour freak show.
