Totally agree. I cannot for the life of me work out how AB thinks that Streeting is a good fit for Defence.

I agree and I don’t think Burnham’s the messiah but I do think getting stuck in when he’s been in Downing Street less than 48 hours is carrying impatience to the extreme.

I’m not criticising what he’s done since entering Downing Street though - I completely agree that needs time. It’s what he did before entering it I dislike, and I’ll dislike it more if waiting reveals he’s going to just carry on with the plan. Though I’m torn in that because the plan is good, if slow and not very radical

Who is governing Britain ? Andy Burnham and his team, or Badenoch and Farage ?

Same with other countries "alarm" at Miliband as FS.

I think these threads over compensate with criticisms. Largely to disprove the lazy arse twattery that all the posters are fan girls.

I also recognise the hypervigilance.

It's not necessary. You slammed Starmer when he got things wrong. Repeatedly! You didn't shower him with praise when he was in power. You acknowledged when decent policies were announced and when he acted in the UK's interests on the world stage.

Just do the same for Burnham now.

Nobody needs to blow smoke up his arse, we aren't Tories. Just let him get on with it and critique along the way.

ps Jarvis should have stayed at defence - that was a sensible appointment by Starmer.

This is one of those things that is incomprehensible to me. Of course I clicked on it. Of course I put my Constituency in it and the result was, of course, Reform winning in every conceivable way.

That's not really helpful. It's doing the classic dim thing of assuming you can change just one thing, and everything else remains constant.

The reality (naturally) is if you change the voting system then you will change the way people vote.

And all discussion is moot anyway, until you know for sure what PR system you may be using. A key question is whether Reform can attract a lot of second-choice votes.

I assume that is based on current polling though, so really just a snapshot of how things would go at this point in time.

Not convinced by their polling. It has my constituency Reform on FPTP. That seems deeply unlikely to me based on previous Westminster voting and t(e recent Senedd election.
Plus, of course, Reform seem to be imploding a bit.

The discourse around burnham’s wife is so sad to me. The poor woman has done nothing wrong.

The thing is Labour’s implosion and the coup has gone down extremely badly with most of the nation - and now we are stuck with some smug geezer no one has even heard of wanting us to now call him PM.

It’s an utter joke, and whatever remained of Labour voters all over the country have now defected. Quietly without a word, at the horror of what has happened in the last few months.

Because you all live in an echo chamber and surround yourself with nodding dogs no doubt you will be surprised to learn that the rest of our country is fucking aghast - Labour are over. Done. Lost for good. There is no coming back from this. You are the only ones that seem surprised.

The polling is accurate - you just don’t want to believe your messiah isn’t going to save the day. Nothing can save Labour now.

To be fair, in the context of this thread, it's an unfair question. Many posters here are not beholden to any party. The only common denominator is a visceral aversion to grift and division and the politics of hate and a burning desire to see the UK do well for all our children. The fact of a difference between Labour voter and someone who voted Labour is kind of a sine non qua here

It might be an idea not to give these sort of posts more traction? Best to just let them die a death on X. Just a thought.
