Great. If this thread is the epitome of all that's wrong, I'm extra happy to be here. Did you see the lovely positive news about how well things are going in the UK posted a bit earlier?

You obv don’t live here! 😂

Hello again. How are you getting on with putting together the evidence that immigration and NHS data as presented by the government is all fake, as you claimed? Really looking forward to seeing it.

Small minds, no aspiration and no work ethic - that is why the UK is stagnating and the US is ripping ahead. This thread is the very epitome of everything that is wrong with this country tbh.

How much is the US national debt? Trump and his family possibly exempt from financial investigation, busy burning diplomatic bridges, still at war with Iran, no wall built by Mexico. Is that ripping ahead?

Don't forget the mistreatment and murder of innocent people by Trump's Gestapo.

I honestly feel pity for so many deluded souls whom genuinely can’t seem to understand even the basics of diplomacy and mutual alliances.

Agree with you - our relationship with the US will endure beyond Trump.

At first, we were afraid;
We were petrified.

Shame that the 'pro Trump' thread is nearly full, they could do with some supporters.

I would have thought it would take a while to finally close. What with the slow typing and all.

A positive move by Burnham?

Andy Burnham has backed away from a multibillion-pound move to increase the personal income tax allowance, as he told his first cabinet meeting: “We’ve got to show fiscal discipline.” The new UK prime minister had explored the feasibility of declaring an end to the five-year freeze of the £12,570 personal allowance, which he said was “a growing issue” for voters. “There is not any commitment to do it,” said one ally of Burnham. “What he was saying is that people are feeling unheard.”

Just reading the details of Ann Widdecombe's murder. Hideous violence.

Yes, it’s just shocking. Poor woman. 😢

Capferrat · 21/07/2026 17:33

I do think that Burnham should face down his backbenchers and take an axe to disability benefits. It is plain for all to see that the system is being abused and is unaffordable.

Spend the savings on defence, finishing HS2 (properly - to Manchester and Leeds) and restoring some fiscal headroom. He should also remove the Personal Allowance taper a move that will almost certainly pay for itself as people work more once they are not being taxed at 60% +

DuncinToffee · 21/07/2026 17:40

If you have any facts beyond feelz about disability benefits abuse, please share, otherwise take your axe and find another thread.

Does anybody have that pie chart that shows the teeny tiny amount of fraudulent benefit claims? I’d search for it but I cba. Maybe someone has it saved?
