I'm not sure about the appointments so far. It seems a bit like people are getting top jobs because they are close to him and being rewarded, rather than they are being put in roles where they have expertise or experience. I suppose it's always a bit (or a lot) like that, but still. If Miliband is as passionate about net zero as he appeared, why go to the foreign office? I would get being chancellor, but if that wasn't on offer, why not ask to stay put? The only element of continuity so far is the very rw Mahmood.
