Hope it's ok for me to post - I lurk a bit but need an outlet today...

I'm not sure about the appointments so far. It seems a bit like people are getting top jobs because they are close to him and being rewarded, rather than they are being put in roles where they have expertise or experience. I suppose it's always a bit (or a lot) like that, but still. If Miliband is as passionate about net zero as he appeared, why go to the foreign office? I would get being chancellor, but if that wasn't on offer, why not ask to stay put? The only element of continuity so far is the very rw Mahmood.

John Healey is going to get tough on benefit payments and push for "jobs" for young people. Especially those on PIP.

Because he’s a good politician with good values who has worked in the international scene before.

I know very little about Healey tbh, but this is what the BBC said - which possibly explains why he was picked (we know AB is very keen on increasing regional powers):
