So @placemats do you think Starmer would have been too old to lead Labour into the next GE?

He's not bellow pension age. He's in receipt of his state pension. He was born in February 1960. Having been born six months later I have to wait until this time next year to get my pension.

Ah ok. I still don’t think 66 is necessarily too old to be effective. I k ow nothing much about him, so there may be good reasons he’s not. I just don’t think age is one.

He wouldn't be of a pensionable age. John Healey is in receipt of a state pension.

He would be the same age JH is now, but a year off state pension age. Which JH would be now if he had been born a a few months later!

That's a moot point. And I'm not being ageist, just pointing out the fact that the Chancellor of the Exchequer is in receipt of a state pension.

And I'm also allowed to say that I don't like him as a politician.

Why don’t you like this appointment? He has experience. He’s a good politician. He can focus on this which isn’t Burnham’s strong suit. What aren’t you liking?

But what’s the issue with him? Why do you think he’s incompetent? Because being 66 isn’t enough on its own.

I think he’s trying to keep both wings of the party happy and maintain unity. Miliband as FS and Mahmoud as HS is a very interesting mix, along with Healey as Chancellor. Time will tell whether Burnham has chosen wisely or not.

Apart from Mahmood staying as home secretary, which was to be expected, what other big roles are going to Labour women?

Are you worried he will give subsidies for those single boot things with a zipper and turn the heating up in No. 11 to 28 degrees?
