@MewithME I agree with you in not filling silences. I love that about my dh that we can sit there in comfortable silence together. It's lovely and really takes off any pressure. I lived with my grandma growing up and she had to fill every silence and was very loud, it was so overstimulating and stressful!! I too love a quiet, gentle, simple life 😌

@TodayIsabetterone my older DS tends to call for a chat about 9pm. It's like he has forgotten (being away from home) than I am almost always in bed by then 😂

I agree @MewithME your DS sounds like a smashing kid. I can imagine it must be tiring though especially as you are doing so much of it single handed.

Welcome @DefiniteIyNameChangingForThis . Sorry to hear you are feeling so rubbish and I hope it improves.

Work for me today. Had quite a productive morning. Could feel myself grinding to a slow halt after 2pm and eventually gave up and went for a lie down. I think unfortunately I might need to concede defeat and take some more sick leave. I don't know. I keep thinking that if I can give myself a quiet week or two I will get back to a good baseline but it keeps not happening.

My arthritis has calmed down and I was able to bake those cakes I wanted to do the day before. Also 1 load of laundry. One business call from my financial adviser which I dreaded as I get confused with number and percents but he explained it all so clearly.
Best thing about today (well its yesterday now) was that my ds called me when he got off of work just to chat. 😊
Here's to an easy Thursday for us all.

I used to love baking. I used to do a lovely triple layer, rich chocolate cake that my kids loved.
With help I think I'd manage so when it's cooler I'll get Ds to give me a hand & I'll make one.

Spent yesterday in a lot of pain

Out early for a blood test and picked up my prescription. Coffee in the sunshine then prepping the big mosaic board. Need DH's help now so having a rest and a cuppa ☕

I've been to see our new house and I am shattered! I had to climb up a 10 foot ladder to get upstairs. Going up OK but coming down was scary. I feel as if my legs don't belong to me but it was very enjoyable.

Now resting!

Busy day yesterday with DHs hospital appointment, good news they have stretched his appointment interval to 12 weeks instead of 6. Its just monitoring a thing he has behind his eye. Its stable at the moment, and not cancerous, but needs to be checked in case it suddenly grows or it could turn nasty. I drove all through country lanes to avoid the road works. I rather enjoyed it on the way home, when there was no time pressure. Bloody knackering though.

Well done on the floor tiles, @TeaAndStrumpets , probably is better to go neutral for the floor, and have colour elsewhere. But the beautiful ceramics are so tempting. I used to know someone who tiled their bathroom floor with a mosaic of broken tiles they got out of a skip. All colours and shapes, like the old crazy paving. It was wonderful, but they were very artistic, I think it would probably look like a dogs breakfast if I tried it. Not to mention cleaning grout is my least favourite job after cleaning the oven.

Yes not nearly as bad today. @JewelleryCatitd strange because yesterday was so draining. Can’t wait for my appointment, thanks for asking x

@danglethedingle I have been obsessing over tiles for months and months, looking on pinterest and websites. They look so luscious in the photographs! Our current house has old Victorian floor tiles in the hall and I love them, but they would look silly in a new build The chap at the tile place just picked out a floortile from my vague description and it was perfect! I suppose he knows his stuff.

Hope your DH continues well with his eyes. My DH has glaucoma and takes drops which control it, but it's always a relief to get the all clear each time.

Afternoon all. 👋

Good day here in that I finally managed to tidy/ wipe the surfaces in the lounge and vacuum this morning whilst DH took dippy dog out. Our next door neighbour who has had a path removed this week apologised for the dust today and it suddenly clicked why it looked bad enough for me to notice as all the windows have been open! Plus we had an old leaking chimney removed from a few days before we went away so that will have created a lot too 🙄 I stuck to the one room in the name of pacing as knew I was popping out to visit my mum this afternoon which was nice.
We took dippy dog who has been gradually improving at meeting people and getting down to just a minute or two of barking at more familar visitors now. We have to put her away or on a lead with strangers still as she’s very anxious and barky if a stranger comes in the house. However today she actually ran up and greeted mum with a Waggy tail and no barking whatsoever probably for the first time! It’s only taken 10 months 😂

Had an afternoon of multiple car trips and several people helping move furniture and boxes. I woke up feeling very wobbly this morning but actually much better once we were getting on with stuff (and I wasn't allowed to carry anything heavy as my back's still not right). I think there might now be more stuff at the new house than at the old one. Need to sort a van for the few big bits of furniture, then I think it's just another couple of car trips. Then I'll have to think about the unpacking 😬😂

Ready meal for tea and an evening on the sofa now.

@TodayIsabetterone well it just goes to show it wasn't your fault you had some dust! If you play your cards right you can blame the dust on your neighbour every time you have visitors!
I had an amazing chocolate cake recipe years ago which I've lost, sadly couldn't eat it now but if you find a good recipe it's worth handing down mother to daughter! I've still got fruit loaf recipes from my Mum, handed on from another relative decades ago. We also had the BeRo recipe book which was brilliant when we were newly married.

@TeaAndStrumpets good thinking… I can blame the building work for a good few months at least 😊 Builder due back after his holiday to take down another old chimney so that’s another excuse lined up.
Lovely idea passing recipes down, my DS’s GFs family are excellent bakers and do that with added details of substitutions/ changes and notes of who likes what!

Feeling a little overstimulated with work and general life so I think I'm going to take a short break from mumsnet so I can get some proper rest away from my phone.

We do on here sometimes because we’re a community on here so if @aliasfrog didn't say, we might wonder where she went and if she’s ok

Well I've been on here for many years and I can honestly say I've never noticed if someone hasn't posted for a while . I also go through phases where I don't post for ages depending on how I'm feeling and no-one's ever asked where I am. Maybe its just me.

Sorry to hear that @aliasfrog I hope things feel less overwhelming soon.

Think as lots of us post regularly on these chronic illness threads @Mariets so we actually do notice if people don’t post for a while. I think having chronic illnesses, there’s always the worry someone is really struggling I guess.
