@TeaAndStrumpets Excellent!!!

I can't tell you what a relief it is. Left to me it would be a riot of colour, but going neutral makes more sense. I can always paint the walls!

TeaAndStrumpets · 22/07/2026 12:02

Ooh @MewithME I've just watched a trailer for Sugar! Need to fill a gap once we've finished The Capture.

Swanhilde · 22/07/2026 12:18

Rubbish night, each time I woke my head was banging. Gave in around 5.30 and got up and took some more painkillers. Slept then til 10am ...

Feel groggy now but head is okay so far ๐Ÿคž

Staying in bed ๐Ÿ˜ด

I can sympathise, I had my awful neck nerve pain last night, took a painkiller and went to bed at 9. Feeling the pain hangover today!!
Hope you're feeling better soonFlowers

@TeaAndStrumpets well done on the tile selection!

Sugar is good. Story takes a bit of concentration but it's a bit like Bosch.... lovely LA sunshine and lots of atmosphere ๐Ÿ˜Š I like it so far.

Exh is ill so he's going to be 3 hours late for DS today. So my day of rest has become a couple of hours this afternoon. I promised DS a day out tomorrow so I really need more rest than this. I'm feeling absolutely exhausted by parenting. At the same time, I love having some time with DS.

I would just like to not have MEcfs I think basically ...or maybe not having to single parent a chatty autistic teen. Bless him ...my head feels like it's going to explode. Non stop information stream and the dreadful sound of YouTube. ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ™ˆ

I loved Bosch, I've been reading the books for years. They did a good job putting them on the the screen. My mental image of Bosch was different of course but Titus Welliver is excellent.

In the books Bosch has very dark eyes, often commented on. His ex wife when she left him concealed her pregnancy. He came across her again a few years later and saw toddler Maddie, who had the same eyes as him, and realised she was his daughter.

That's today's Bookworm v TV trivia!

The absolutely best book adaptation I've seen is Slow Horses. They change the plot a bit but the characters are perfect. Presumably the author helped with the casting.

Orangesandlemons77 · 22/07/2026 14:28

Just catching up here. Still in bed here, have been up for coffee though! DH is away with work. Not got much planned today except doing the online shopping order and getting the recycling ready and a bit of laundry.

MEwithME it will probably get easier as they get a bit older, you will miss it then I expect. Hope you get a bit of a break.

Hoping for a good day for all Flowers

TeaAndStrumpets · 22/07/2026 16:26

Had an accidental 2 hour nap! Obviously looking at two tiles was my limit. If I had a mood board it would probably be blank. I don't have the mental energy to be creative ๐Ÿค”

martha79 · 22/07/2026 16:47

Well done for choosing tiles @TeaAndStrumpets

I hope you can get some rest in @MewithME

I've got rid of various bits of musical equipment (thanks to people picking them up) and done a little bit of packing but nothing heavy. Had a lot of time on the sofa and now in bed, although I will need to get up for food.

Got a couple of friends coming over tomorrow to help with stuff so trying to get plenty more rest in before then.

TodayIsabetterone · 22/07/2026 17:51

Yay for the tiles @TeaAndStrumpets

Glad your back is easier @martha79

Hope you can rest a bit more @MewithME I used to find summer holidays hard from the constant chat perspective.
I think it does ease off as they get older although I found then they often get really chatty about 10 at night which is when Iโ€™m on my knees and just want to go to sleep! My DD ( 18) does this now and although I always want to listen as often weโ€™ll have a good chat at that time, I do wish sometimes our body clocks would align more!

I felt okay this morning and in my head had all kinds of ideas about catching up with some housework. The living room is a mess and super dusty and I really wanted to get just one room organised. However Iโ€™m currently lying on the sofa looking at it having now ran out of oomph!

Does anyone else have days where you get sidetracked by other people or tasks that do need doing but weren't a priority for today?! Well itโ€™s been one of those days and my body is kindly reminding me Iโ€™m still needing to pace and take it easy. Think I did so well on holiday its gone to my head!
Ah well maybe Iโ€™ll dust tomorrow ๐Ÿ˜Š ( or not!)

MewithME · 22/07/2026 17:56

Thanks @Orangesandlemons77 ..
He is mid teens now and in so many ways he's no bother and a lovely lovely lad and absolutely will miss these days of hanging out when he is older...it's just intense sometimes. It's autism and the need to tell you stuff in detail and not wait until it's a good moment and it doesn't matter if you are remotely interested because he will describe this thing he saw on the internet whether you like it or not or even understand it and it may take twenty minutes.....๐Ÿ˜‚

Anyway I've had a few hours sofa time. I watched a film but it was Marty Supreme and while very good ...it was bluddy exhausting ๐Ÿคฃ what is wrong with me that I picked that to watch!

@martha79 well done on the resting. Keep at it. Have a sandwich or cereal for tea! This is my plan today.

@MewithME you describing your lovely son sounds like something my dh would say about me ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ maybe if your son and I were in the same room, the universe would implode?
Are you autistic too? Sounds like you get sensory overload from his talking. Either way, sounds exhausting!

Had an accidental 2h nap today, so that means I've slept 12 of the last 24 hours. Might be turning into a house cat ๐Ÿˆ

Just stumbled on this thread in Active. Would it be okay if I joined?

53, diagnosed with RA in my 30s. Also have other health issues but RA is The Biggie. Currently feeling very sorry for myself as yesterday was my methotrexate injection day - even after all these years I still feel like death for at least 48 hours after, and often for the whole week. Also it's quite warm here and that makes my joints sticky and painful. I'm one of the unfortunate ones for whom warmth aggravates not alleviates symptoms.

Sipping ginger tea and hoping from relief from the nausea before I attempt to make dinner ๐Ÿคข

MewithME · 22/07/2026 18:09

@aliasfrog haha...yeah maybe it would... Though his friends are mostly autistic too so I think you'd probably get on well!. As far as I know, I'm not autistic. I think exh is.

It's more brain fog/noise sensitivity/cognitive demand issue from my Mecfs I think but also I just feel no space for my own thoughts when DS is around quite often. I've lived a lot of my life alone or as a lone parent...I find it hard work to be in other people's company for long periods.

I do the vast majority of the parenting with all the responsibility and it burns me out. My Mum talks at me and is exhausting too.

I quite like being with people who don't need to fill every silence. My Dad could do this. I miss him.

@MewithME He sounds like such a lovely lad and that you have a great relationship but yes itโ€™s the intensity and detail that must make it hard sometimes.
And lol at the dusting ๐Ÿ˜‚ No judgement here, itโ€™s not a task I do often either tbf but everything has been put on the back burner lately and could definitely do with a de clutter and wipe of the surfaces. We've had building work next door and windows open so maybe thatโ€™s why itโ€™s so noticeable! Or I could leave it til Halloween and pretend the cobwebs in the corners are actually decorative ๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿ˜‚

MewithME · 22/07/2026 18:10

@DefiniteIyNameChangingForThis you definitely can join of course ๐Ÿ˜Š

Slow Horses is amazing but like Bosch I went tv to book (audiobook) which has possibly been more forgiving. I think Titus Welliver is v good but I can imagine if I'd read a lot of them first, that would jar.

Same with Rivals. Never read them but was a bit of hoo haa about the main guy I think!

Sorry to hear youโ€™re feeling rough after your injection. Hope the ginger tea gives you some respite from the nausea at least. Sounds like an easy dinner is needed tonight.

Hello @DefiniteIyNameChangingForThis, welcome.

@MewithME thankfully I've got a load of ready meals in at the moment, so a chickeny pasta thing was rustled up in about four minutes.

I'm so with you on being around people where quiet is ok, it's the best sort of company.

TeaAndStrumpets · 22/07/2026 19:29

Welcome @DefiniteIyNameChangingForThis sorry you're feeling rough today. ๐Ÿ’

TeaAndStrumpets · 22/07/2026 19:41

@TodayIsabetterone it's the sunshine! My dust has archaeological layers, I just ignore it mostly.

We have friends who had a severely asthmatic son and he was always much better when they were staying with his uncle, who was an absent minded professor type. Stuff piled on every surface, never dusted. Their theory was that the dust all stuck to itself and wasn't airborne any more!
