Morning all!

Woke at 5am with heart pounding so still in crash territory. Off to osteopath this morning then a quiet day. Hope you all have a good week.

Pasithean · 20/07/2026 08:36

Hi trying to finish my nj feed , but we got an 8 week old puppy who has other ideas.
joining in. Letโ€™s see how today goes. Good luck everyone.

ChippyDinner · 20/07/2026 09:03

Good morning. Have family visiting today so trying to work up the energy to tidy up, make beds etc.

Hello!! Iโ€™m back ๐Ÿ‘‹
Iโ€™m checking in with a new name to manifest better days for all!

Had a fabulous holiday which despite all my anxiety at going away so soon after a stroke, I did it, loved it and have come home feeling rather proud of myself for pushing outside my comfort zone.

Managed to get off the ship a couple of times which was much more than I expected to manage. DH was determined I was getting off in Italy and went into the port town with DD in the morning to work out what was there and see if it would be mobility scooter friendly. He then found a restaurant and came back to the ship and got a taxi to get me there so I could eat pasta in Italy as Iโ€™ve never been! So that was rather lovely.
I mostly just rested, relaxed and ate far too much food ๐Ÿ˜Š None of us wanted to come back so I think that says it all really.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 20/07/2026 09:51

@TodayIsabetterone Welcome back!!
Sounds like you had a wonderful time which you very much needed.
Keep taking it easy x

Love the name change ๐Ÿ˜Š Your hubby is a hero so glad you got to eat pasta in Italy !

Welcome! Ooh what type of puppy?

TeaAndStrumpets · 20/07/2026 11:45

Adding my welcome back @TodayIsabetterone ! So pleased you got away, very inspiring for a lot us ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿšฃ

Edit to erase a clockface emoji which randomly appeared. No clocks allowed on holiday!

TeaAndStrumpets · 20/07/2026 11:48

I've had my neck stretched and my hips pummelled, my osteopath thinks things are loosening up. Not much else on my list for today, probably a nap.

ValleyClouds · 20/07/2026 11:53

Is anyone else so regularly in contact with their GPs meds management team that they feel like friends?!

TodayIsabetterone · 20/07/2026 12:23

Thanks @CoffeeBeansGalore , itโ€™s done all 3 of us so much good @Dozymoo42 Yes DH was a star at working out ways for me to join in that were manageable for me, searching out quiet spots etc..

@TeaAndStrumpets I hope the stretching and pummelling pays dividends tomorrow. I was actually thinking about my osteopath and physio on holiday ๐Ÿ˜ Mostly that theyโ€™d be very impressed that I kept up with my stretches and even managed a bit of slow swimming! That felt amazing as itโ€™s been a long time.

Hope everyone is doing as okay as can be and survived the heat wave. I knew it been hot but still had a shock at the dead grass everywhere! DH has a lot of pots in our garden, some he left in Ddogs paddling pool ( much to her disgust! When she got home!) but we've lost a few.

Today will be mostly recovering from the disembarkation and return journey yesterday, loading the washing machine and trying desperately to pretend weโ€™re still on holiday. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Swanhilde · 20/07/2026 14:26

Hello, I've found you all! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Finally feel relatively human after DD's graduation last week. It was a wonderful day and there was much celebrating with plenty of drinks and food ๐Ÿฅณ

But it's taken me since Friday to recover ... Oh well, I knew the price and was fully prepared to pay it. So proud of her ๐Ÿฅฐ

The sun is still blazing here so this morning I have grouted the first of my big mosaics. That's more than enough for one day so now I'm back in bed resting again ๐Ÿฅฑ

Have a peaceful day all ๐Ÿ’•

martha79 · 20/07/2026 15:08

Hello over here! @TodayIsabetterone love the name and I'm so glad the trip went well. And you got to have pasta in Italy!

I went back to bed for a while after my early start. Got up for lunch then had my counselling appointment, during which the van arrived and collected the huge amount of rubbish that I'd left in the passageway, including dead hoover and printers, and many slightly mouldy cardboard boxes from the cellar. It felt like a rather good metaphor for what we were talking about (mainly, what I need to get rid of from my life!).

Oioiqueen · 20/07/2026 15:19

Did anyone watch the football last night and see Trump practically be pushed off as he wanted to be centre stage? The Spanish were polite about it but you could see they weren't willing to lift the trophy until Trump was out of camera shot.

aliasfrog · 20/07/2026 15:40

races in,panting
skids to a halt
I'm here!!! Sorry I'm late!

Yesterday afternoon was a write off. Mainly spent it laying on our enormous beanbag watching supernanny reruns.

Today I've been to work and started sorting out all of my clothes. I'm halfway through and have run out of steam.

I literally never need to buy any new clothes or underwear EVER. So I'm glad about that.....but now I have to put it all away again ๐Ÿฅฒ

Name change fail (bedfrog)
I'm going to need another alias...

TeaAndStrumpets · 20/07/2026 16:50

@ValleyClouds our srgery push statins very hard so I hate being in touch. I just get my long term meds for thyroid and osteoporosis but am lucky not to need pain killers etc. , so I avoid taking medicine normally. I am a bit phobic about doctors though.

@TodayIsabetterone swimming! Fab.

@Swanhilde many congratulations to your DD, a reward for her hard work. What super weather for a graduation day.

@martha79 so pleased you've got some clutter removed, it's a wonderful feeling! Best of luck with your move.

@Oioiqueen sadly no football here but I used to watch everything growing up. It really does build. There is something special about a live event, you never know what will happen next , unlike watching a drama say, when you can feel yourself being manipulated by the scriptwriters and producers.

@aliasfrog well done! Last time I cleared out my knicker drawer I found positively vintage stuff! I keep meaning to get proper dividers...I roll things up a la Mari Kondo but one rummage ruins it all.

Why have you name changed? Are you on the lam? Don't worry, you'll be quite safe here.

aliasfrog · 20/07/2026 17:12

@TeaAndStrumpets I just didn't want all my posts to be under the same name but that's the end of that really!! Not that I ever say anything controversial (the last was "we should tax the super rich") but you know what some people are like on here.

Yes i chucked away some ancient threadbare knickers that I can't even remember buying at this point. I hate chucking clothes away but what else am I going to do with them, they won't last a day as a dishcloth ๐Ÿ˜‚

Hot and muggy here, neighbours blasting their shite music in their garden. So that's restful and relaxing......!

Some people on here I think are certifiable! I always enjoy a discussion but I think a fairly high proportion of MNetters are totally unable to agree to disagree. My parents voted for different parties ๐Ÿ˜ณThey would tease each other but that was that. On here there is no nuance, people are very rigid. Maybe they're all bots!

Honestly I just imagine Jeff bezos with 25 mumsnet accounts writing on those tax threads "you can't tax rich people more, they'll leave!"
