I wish they would give us specifics on the weaknesses we are mitigating for. -I don’t want to fill the freezer and then have it all rot due to grid blackouts for instance. Dried pulses will keep, but they need energy to cook, etc.

Yeah same. You can't win can you. No point ramming my chest freezer full of food if we're facing power cuts. I've decided to just keep well stocked with the basics, without over doing it iyswim. I buy extra when on offer, and bulk buy where it makes sense, but not stockpiling.

Hmm. Not sure about this one after reading it twice! Is he trying to say that Burnham is talented enough to bring about the necessary changes, or is he saying that Burnham will be so batshit that the electorate will receive the necessary shock to vote for pain at the next GE?
I don't agree with the former.

It’s a nuanced piece. But, as I read it, the thrust is that Burnham may well be taking us to a place where hard truths about the necessity of cuts in state spending and pensions, and freeing up the labour market again, will be inescapable. He advocates house building, but as far as I know that’s accepted across the parties already.

I believe the latter.

Is it possible that you are looking for Mayhar Tousi's channel? He does normally know but he makes a big drama out of everything. And he has hysterical headlines that annoy me. I followed him a bit at the start of the Iran blackout, but I stopped very quickly because of his methods.

I think it is the latter. If Burnham gets his way, he will bring a crisis where the hard truths are inescapable.

if he’s not more careful than it seems we could end up with a tanking economy if AB rushes to more tax rises on the people and organisations deemed deserving. I am hoping that he’ll turn away from not listening to economists but the mood music so far has hardly been promising. I agree with that times article. I suppose as with Keir I’m still holding out hope for a more broad based new labour appeal.

Labour does look like it’s resetting to ‘core’ new left values, benefits, nationalising, wage setting via min wages and high taxes. Maybe it believes that’s the only way it can ensure it remains anything in a multi party future….

there’s an inherent tension between devolving power to lower levels, whilst at the same time vastly reducing individual and firm freedoms through very high taxes.

I interpret that article as "maybe AB will collapse the economy faster and people will wake up to what's necessary."

Sounds like he’s going to hurtle us further into tax demands the IMF will be called in to do his dirty work and we will get Kemi in to reset our nation please dear god
