Yeah from what I've read so far, business leaders and some union bosses were giving a firm no to Miliband (E) as chancellor. Not doubt this decision will be blamed on the right-wing press though, as per.

I've been listening to some pods this morning trying to catch up. Times journos suggesting that Miliband (E) is expected to become Foreign Sec, not Miliband (D). Shall we just start referring to the Milband brothers as Thing 1 and Thing 2? Would be less complicated.

Also heard that Lucy 'dog whistle' Powell will probably become deputy PM and education sec. She really wants education apparently.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. Much appreciated. @justasking111 you said I was capable of a pithy reply, over the last year or so this lady has very much become the queen bee of the group. And on a personal level, she is really decent person. But it's the kind of situation where a pithy reply would be taken very badly by everyone. I have one friend in the area apart from this lot, I cannot afford to have no one around who will help me out if I'm ill or whatever. I really worry about having another major injury in the situation I'm in now - I mean it would be awful to have another major injury anyway but I'm very isolated now so it would be extremely difficult.

@Parsley4321 I'm in Essex. There must be a ton of people around who aren't lefties. I think when one person is very loud and vocal, no one else will speak up. I have been told that sometimes these political conversations have got heated and unpleasant and I wonder if that lady is involved.

It's so sad because I've never been someone who needs to agree with anyone's politics in order to get on with them. If you are going to shout the kind of rhetoric that leads to demonisation of groups, then I have an issue.

You need to check the OP out though. It's not necessarily a surprise! I only read about 20 posts before hiding it. I'm not interested!

For now, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. I won't go so far as I did for Starmer, of whom I had high hopes when he became leader of the party! But I'm willing to see what happens before actually passing judgment on Burnham himself.

Blaming Mrs Thatcher and the policies then and not anything the Blair / Brown government did is a bit short sighted. He obviously bears a grudge. I don’t feel that he’ll last long to be honest , he’ll try to break the manifesto promises and that’ll go down really badly.

The sick of Burnham thread made me laugh as so soon. But really pro Labour haven’t got a leg to stand on when it comes to rounding on politicians.

Let’s see, I’m happy to give Burnham some time as I think it could go either way and also it’s better for Kemi to let it play out.

Personally I would like to blame the Duke Of Wellington, for the current woes of the country. The returning Soldiers from the Napoleonic Wars in 1815 never got their fair share of the cake meaning, the 'Working Classes' have been abused by the 'Torys' ever since. It is always the Torys fault. I think it is vey unfair for Andy Burnham to solely blame 'Thatcher' why not go back to the Poor Laws !

Yes, very true. She's been dead quite a while, and most of the Labour front bench are products of Thatcherism - including Burnham.
Labour had a long stint in power after Thatcher. Burnham should be asking why Labour were booted out in 2010.

I wonder how much of it is having a case of the Alistair Campbells - I shouldn't really say that as I haven't watched the interview 😂 - but some people are so entrenched in their view they just dismiss something as likely being crap - so they end up being ignorant of actual facts.

I think it's really important to look at stuff and ask yourself if it's true, and also not to dismiss it just because you don't like the source.
