This government claim to be willing to make difficult choices, yet somehow always end up making the choice they find waaay too easy: stealing yet more money from working British people to give to someone - anyone - else.
It's pretty simple. The UK should immediately stop issuing any visas to countries who refuse to take back their citizens. Work visas, family re-unification, student, tourist, asylum. All stop immediately.
If we can't trust a country to take back their citizens, why the fuck would we allow any more in?!?

Of course, we will (and do) take back any UK citizens no longer welcome in countries they have moved to.
Dual nationals from birth are different - they are British and can't be expelled. It's ridiculous that we don't distinguish between people who were UK citizens from birth and those who have acquired nationality. Most other countries do.
Dual nationals from birth who are expelled from a third country are a bit trickier to repatriate, but it's hardly the biggest conundrum. When you live equally in 2 countries, governments manage to agree quite easily between themselves which country is your tax jurisdiction through a series of rules - it's no harder than that.
Somehow the government always find it very easy when it's about taking money from us, but suddenly impossibly hard when it's about fulfilling their obligations to us, such as keeping UK citizens safe.
