I am also sad about Bonnie Tyler. Fellow Swansea girl.

Very sad. We are on holiday in France right now and yesterday our SatNav was letting us down. I started singing Lost in France because it seemed appropriate. A short while later we stopped for a drink and I read online that Bonnie Tyler had died. It felt odd.

Persephonia1966 · 10/07/2026 16:06

That's quite shocking... I'd assumed it was a peaceful death due to age, but a police enquiry suggests otherwise.
It isn't even likely to be an assisted euthenasia type situation because of her religious beliefs.

That's shocking. Everyone deserves a peaceful end. I hope they get to the bottom of it.

BIossomtoes · 10/07/2026 16:13

I was really shocked to hear that. What a horrible way to die. Nobody deserves that.

DuncinToffee · 10/07/2026 16:21

That is shocking news

It is shocking. The limited information action available suggests it was a violent incident.

There will be a lot we don't - and may never - know.

The fact the police are looking for someone without needing to ask for help (at the moment) is suggestive.

Race related? Because the police have specifically said they are looking for a ‘white male’.

Shit stirring from several angles, but not that.

For example: claims she was assassinated by a lefty. Some trans people were celebrating her death and that is being used to bash trans people generally. Some people saying vile things on the thread suggesting she deserved it. Quite a smorgasbord of shit stirring.

When was the last time a right wing ideologue was killed by anyone other than a right wing ideologue ?

Serious question.

When does murder become assassination ?

I’ve just read the thread. Speculating like that then calling everyone else horrible.

TemperanceWest · 10/07/2026 16:55

There are some nasty hairy hands on that thread. It is turning into a real bunfight.

Yes, an immediate assumption that the violence was ideological rather than plain horrific violence.
of course nobody actually knows one way or another yet.

2dogsandabudgie · 10/07/2026 16:58

cardibach · 10/07/2026 12:46

I expect they shared her views. I didn’t.
You don’t have to have met someone to make a judgement based on what they say and do in public. Or does handcuffing labouring women in hospital make you feel all sentimental?

That isn't true, it was misquoted, pregnant women prisoners would be handcuffed whilst being transported to prison and then the cuffs taken off at the hospital.

SerendipityJane · 10/07/2026 16:58

Of course, if you want a batshit theory, the look what recent events are now obscuring ...

There must be a reason why it takes 15 months to proof where the money came from

There is an article linked explaining it if you care to read back.

Yes, that article is quite clear in stating that women were indeed kept in shackles while in labour. Labour doesn't neatly begin when you arrive at the hospital...

The worst thing is that it is still happening.

All prisoners have to be handcuffed whilst being transported outside of prison for obvious security reasons. If pregnant women prisoners are allowed to give birth without being handcuffed to a prison officer then I'm not sure why people would have a problem with that.

No if you’d read the linked article there were handcuffed until active labour and then handcuffed afterwards.
At least one woman was experiencing contractions.

Really not a policy people should be advocating for.

I think you would be quite unusual in not having a problem with it to be honest
