What a revolting comment

Why? I’m telling you my feelings about her, which are - I have none. I’m not celebrating. I’m just indifferent. I’m not mourning. Which she caused by her horrible actions when she had the opportunity to do better.

In this case AW was a controversial figure, and by dying she didn't suddenly become a saint. I think someone commenting that they have no feelings is pretty fair. I expect many people have far more negative feelings about her.

It's official, the Clacton by-election will be held on August 13.

The announcement from Tendring Council includes a nice picture of the writ for the by-election, which is not something I've ever seen before.

Good. The Standards Commissioner can pick back up the investigation on the 14th. I don't suppose the report will be finalised before September but (unless they have to widened it to include the Cottrel stuff) should be done by October ish.
So delayed but not buried.

Because I’m on a discussion forum discussing my thoughts and feelings about events. I wouldn’t say it to her friends and family. You’ve said some pretty nasty things about public figures in the past. I don’t happen to believe ‘don’t speak ill of the dead’ means we have to pretend they were all roses, though it probably applies when speaking to people who knew them personally, unless we are very sure of their own opinions on the matter.

Why? The woman was 78 years old and had lived a fortunate, comfortable privileged life. We all have to go at some point don't we? Why should people who have no liking or respect for her feel sad at her death? We tend to only mourn the passing of strangers where we feel the person has made a positive contribution. Otherwise, its perfectly normal to feel nothing.

If you find it so revolting other threads are available. I thought it was pretty mild, my thoughts on the subject are far less charitable.

Interesting- do we have to not dislike anyone who is now dead? Or just not in the immediate aftermath of their death?

Either could bring up some interesting moral discussion though.

Agree. It is not revolting to express indifference towards the death of a person by natural causes.

I meant what I said. I have no feelings about her death. I disliked her behaviour and opinions when she was alive, therefore her death does not move me. I feel nothing about it.

I noticed @derxa was absent when Lowe's despicable comment on the Dunblane massacre was discussed here yesterday.

Perdy seems to have melted. Her front legs, in particular, seem to have melted clean away.

Poor love. Gorgeous as that luxuriant fur is, it must be torture in this weather.
