If you're experiencing the heatwave like we are in Berkshire, UK- then what have you all got planned for dinner?!

I need some inspiration as currently I have no desire to stand over a hot oven, yet feel like I am slowly marinating myself😂

Banana sandwiches and a toffee meringue

I’d forego the sandwich part and chop the banana up with the meringue 😁

Salmon with baby jersey royals 😋 broccoli and carrots here tonight

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who loves a kedgeree.

Salmon-rice bowls! Might do nachos later this evening if we’ve got space.

I always find salmon so filling.

closureatlast · 25/06/2026 18:19

Nothing! Had poached eggs and avocado about 11 and a bowl of Greek yoghurt at 4

Crikeyalmighty · 25/06/2026 21:23

thai Spiced fresh salmon coconut red curry and jasmine rice

Pieceofpurplesky · 25/06/2026 23:46

Salmon, jersey royals, tender stem
broccoli and mange tout

ConstantlyFuriosa · 26/06/2026 01:04

Just finished the last of the olive sourdough with the remaining Greek dip - which was absolutely delicious! Too hot to do anything other than spread and dip.

ViciousCurrentBun · 26/06/2026 07:06

Lots of salads, anything that doesn’t involve standing over a hob. But the oven is currently on as I’m about to bake a big cake for a party tomorrow and I said I would.

Gazpacho followed by chickpea curry (out of the freezer) and rice.

They are really good too - £2 for 4 but lovely for burgers or cheese and ham or scrambled egg rolls etc - we first had them in a restaurant in Brighton , so googled and been addicted ever since.

I picked up the new Waitrose Food magazine last night, and quite coincidentally, it's one of the suggested foods this month, so they sell then there too, which is handy as I have one down the road. They served them with juicy sausages, which does look amazing.

Have you been to Japan? There they have egg mayo, rather than scrambled egg. You can get Japanese mayo in Waitrose or Asian supermarkets as well. It does taste different. I try not to eat UPFs, but do allow myself a few bits and bobs, so this will go on the allowed list

henlake7 · 26/06/2026 07:58

Last night I had Itsu soup dumplings and roast seaweed. Took 2 minutes in the microwave!😄

Citygirlrurallife · 26/06/2026 16:32

Made a bloody amazing salad for lunch today (sorry to the McDonald’s crowd 😉) lettuce, chickpeas, spring onion, toasted pumpkin seeds, grilled nectarines, burrata and hot honey. It was so goddamn tasty I took a photo of it

hummus and crisps for dinner

Fucking maccers last night had me raiding the fridge before bedtime. Never ever fills ye up.

This evening it is homemade 'kfc' so essentially I am doing a mix of chicken legs and tenders, skin on chips and have corn on the cob, coleslaw, rice salad and in this house curry sauce as we have yet to find a decent kfc gravy replica.

Comeonenglandtonite · 25/06/2026 03:30

🤣🤣🤣🤣🥲

I had 4 crunchies and half a coffee and walnut cake

If the c and w cake is the Tesco finest currently on offer, I have the lemon drizzle and the carrot cake in the fridge, I'm marking exam papers and always have a few snacky things on hand, don't ever do that!

TheDogsMother · 26/06/2026 17:37

Currently a bag of Twiglets and a mini bottle of Chicken Wine Rose. Does this count as dinner ?

ImogenBrocklehurst · 26/06/2026 19:33

A chicken thigh, and that was forced down. It’s a rare day that I’m not hungry, but it’s to bloomin’ hot 🥵

cinquanta · 26/06/2026 19:34

We didn’t bother.

Chip shop tonight

Calliopespa · 26/06/2026 19:37

How are people eating so much in this heat?

Barbecue tonight of beef with a leafy salad, but last night DH and I just had a cheese platter with pickles, grapes and sourdough crisps.
