A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Miliband comes for underfloor heating in net zero drive

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/gift/00528b9f0589e24e

As if the tumble dryers weren't enough, Milliband's crusade extends to heated towel rails, gas fires and underfloor heating.

Tread lightly on your lives they said...🤬

Oh no, not the hairdryers! Not my steam generating iron, not my straighteners, not my dishwasher. These are my red line..I will riot. If you see a woman ram raiding stationery shops making a beeline for the fancy journals, it is me.

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 12/06/2026 16:59

Banning heated towel rails? Seriously? He’s lost it big time.

Why don’t we just outlaw hot water. Nobody really needs it. We could all just shiver and cry under icy showers, like at bracing, basic old fashioned Youth Hostels.

Last time this was an April Fools joke. Now it’s just Miliband being Ed.

Oh, if it's better for the thread, I'll ignore. I don't mind putting my thoughts across to whoever but if they are being misrepresented elsewhere, I'll save my breath.

Millipede Wallace is a nut. Architects were told, to put in underfloor heating where possible as an energy saving method of heating. This will piss off some clients.

I'm beginning to think he's just a control freak, not actually basing his decisions on scientific evidence!

We'll have to go back to carpet sweepers soon at this rate. And push along manual mowers!

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 12/06/2026 17:30

I would guess that any new regulations would be prospective. I can’t imagine that even Miliband will have an army of under-floor heating inspectors ready to break up existing heated floors and rip out pipes and wiring.

But it’s all just nuts, however it’s done. The trillions this oaf is costing us is maddening. And we won’t have energy security. We’ll have energy vulnerability. 🤦‍♀️

I must say I have this brilliant silicone floor brush/sweeper and it’s great for dog hair.

We'll then ban silicone! 🤣

Is that the brush I see on Must Have Ideas?

Buy shares in Bissell and JML! Maybe Ronco will have a come-back if Miliband moves on to start banning electrical kitchen equipment.

Miliband’s gone bonkers, I’m sure of it.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 12/06/2026 17:36

Nor sure, never looked there.

I think it came from Lakeland.

Maybe we’ll be encouraged to keep sheep for grass maintenance.

Are sheep net zero compatible? Real
sheep, I mean, not some voters..,

I assume they don't have the same farting issues as cows? If they do, then they are NOT compatible! 🐑 💨

I think the water based ones are
still okay, I think. They pair up with heat pumps well with their low and slow warming method, so that would be a serious own goal.

Electric underfloor heating that you tend to get in bathrooms and are cheaper and more convenient to install if you aren't remodelling from the ground up, are for the chop.

I think he is just punishing the whole population for laughing at bacon-sandwich gate.
