A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Thank you @Nuthatch26

Love the cartoon. 😁

Thanks @Nuthatch26

I imagine the Tory candidacy will be a paper one and they won't put much in by way of resources. Likewise the Greens will have a candidate but won't expend much effort.

Also, the Great Yarmouth First Expanded Universe will discover that winning council seats in Rupert Lowe's constituency doesn't make them credible contenders in constituencies halfway across the country where nobody has heard of him.

Really there are going to be two contenders, and it's just a matter of whether the race is close enough for the also-rans to make a difference.

Yes, this is what I am thinking.

And if people have heard of him, it'll just split the Reform vote, as I can't imagine either party's core voters voting for another party, if not the other.

Apart from anything else they seem like a party entirely built on petty grievances. Lowe feels he was disrespected by Farage, and their candidate says she's running because the council wouldn't let her move her muck pile.

It's a weird contrast with their online supporters sharing all these memes of Lowe as St George in heroic poses.

Really? 😬 Bizarre!

oooh a new thread, I suppose there has been a lot going on! I see the IMF is warning we're 'close to' peak tax as a country. No kidding!! I'd have thought we've already got many points at which the tax system is discouraging investment, going for higher wages, taking risks etc etc.

Will we get more than words on this from labour? If I had to bet now, I'd say Andy B is going down in Makersfield and after that, whoever gets the labour leadership is simply hanging on for the booting in 3 more years. Reeves can come out and say it's all going in the right direction but the fact that she's no contender means nobody's buying it.

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 18/05/2026 14:37

Guido Fawkes has got a cracking little video of Burnham changing his message on the EU. What an absolute two-faced, say-anything shitbag that man is.

Ideal for Labour leader!

Evening 😁

Just catching up with the days news. It seems it has been dominated by the Burnham flip-flop. The GF video is great isn't it. His comments are only a few months apart too.

Starmer and his u-turns and Burnham with his flip flops...are either really PM material?!

None of the contenders are fit to be PM imo. Every possibility fills me with dread.

I was listening to Lammy this morning, banging on about Labour only being in power for 22 years of the last century. No hint of self reflection in his words. He might aswell have said that Labour rarely manage to con enough people to vote for them.
Now they have power, they'll spend the next three years scrapping over ideology before they head back to opposition. Its like fucking amateur hour.

One of the Labour mayors has blamed 'media obsession' for all the Brexit/EU speculation today.
Err, no. It was Streeting and Burnham actually, aka your own party throwing shit at each other.

Exactly. Bloody Labour always using ‘the media’ even as they do press conferences to the media. What do they expect?

I wonder how many years the liberals were in power in the last century.

EasternStandard · 18/05/2026 20:09

It feels like Nandy and co swarming to Makerfield will worsen AB’s chances.

He’s campaigning on not being them, and then they all turn up. They might even know that it won’t help.

Yeh good point. He can't campaign on being separate to the Westminster bubble if he rocks up with said Westminster bubble in tow. 🤯

No idea, sorry. But Lammy seems to think winning elections is like a lucky dip.
Then again, he thinks lots of things that only make sense to him.
