A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

@MNLurker1345 oh okay I misunderstood

@SionnachRuadh I've had a look and I can't find any record of Iain Dale saying anything like that. Do you have a link?

I'm paraphrasing, because he talks a lot on his show, but I'm quite sure he's said that kind of thing on several occasions.

If Iain won't do, Fraser Nelson is a good substitute

Just reading Jack Straw on the guidelines.

“Things were out of kilter at the time of the Macpherson report. There was no question about that but sometimes you get reactions which go too far the other way. That’s obviously happened here,” he said

Apparently Mahmood has said something close but missed that.

So if some politicians are saying there’s a problem why is Starmer incapable of saying the same

ETA ik Straw is old days but it seems this Labour gov struggle enough to need the old lot piping up.

Quentin Letts on the behaviour on display at PMQs today as Farage posed his question.

I missed that part, DH said it was entertaining.

Good that Jack Straw has spoken like that. Listening to bollard today, no mention of anything along those lines at all. Its easier for Labour to bang on about Farage and the protests than deal with the actual issue at hand. They were all very quiet before Farage's press conference. Now they suddenly have lots to say.

Every person I've heard/read speaking with experience of policing has said the same. Yesterday's Daily T pod was good on this.

A staff survey found that one in seven officers and staff (15 per cent) had felt “controlled and pressured” to adopt certain ideas in the sessions and the same number thought “mistakes would have been held against me”. A fifth said they feared being “rejected for saying the wrong thing”.

Oh, that bit

That could easily happen down South...though in 2026, I would hope it wouldn't

Not least because the cabbie will be trained not to say that sort of thing

You mentioned "parallel communities"and I don't really get that either

I have never felt unsafe in a black cab in London. When I lived in Leeds my mum warned me never to get a black and white on my own. She knew! I chose to ignore her because 20 year old law student me was not at all streetwise. They were properly licensed, what could go wrong?! I stuck to local private hire mini cabs after that one awful experience. Men local to my town who could be trusted not to intimidate young girls because they perceived them as “easy” due to the colour of their skin.

Recently, when a very good friend of mine told me that she had stopped her daughter from attending a college in Leeds because the area wasn’t safe due to men of a certain demographic frequenting the area, I had to stop and think before accusing her of racism. London me thought WTF are you saying. Leeds me knew that she was right.

Sorry I meant to say where I saw it.

Idk why a PM can’t address this rather than hide behind emotive language. Bollard really does get it wrong.

SionnachRuadh · 03/06/2026 22:01

I have no knowledge of whether Hampshire plod are any better or worse than the Met, but it would not amaze me if the senior officers spend most of their time enforcing political agendas because that's how you get promoted, while rank and file coppers are busy grassing up their mate who shared an edgy joke on their Whatsapp group.

Investigating crimes and keeping the peace seem to be in the "nice to have" category.

SapphireCasino · 03/06/2026 22:01

@Boohoo76 lots of differing experiences here but to be clear, I mean mini cabs

I used to have no problem with any kind of cabs at all. Around 2021 I noticed a massive change. Both my old area in London and the area I live in now no longer have the usual local, decent drivers working in the evening.

The decent local ones only work in the daytime. Make of that what you will.

Sorry, I could go on about this for hours but I'm probably not really able to say what I want to say on here. It's really put me off going out in the evenings. If you can check in with someone or someone's expecting you home, I think it's different. That may be why people don't understand when I complain about feeling unsafe in taxis at night time now.

If parents of students knew the half of it they wouldn't sleep at night.

Coventry friends son at university was bottled by a broken bottle right across his face, his cheek was hanging off. Was a gang of asians. The police said there was nothing on any shop security cameras in the area.

The local papers print nothing. Only hope of hearing anything is local social media.

Nuthatch26 · 03/06/2026 22:07

He has got it wrong again. His hypocrisy is also on display again. The receipt keepers have been busy. Lots of old tweets, speeches and photos from after George Floyd was murdered. Starmer and Rayner taking the knee 15 days after the murder. Sadiq Khan - "the death of George Floyd has rightly ignited fury" etc.

OP posts:

The other thing I’ve been thinking of is how many times Siobhan Whyte was mentioned in parliament. I looked it up and it was once by a Tim Loughton Conservative MP.

Starmer is using Henry’s father as a shield but ignores the pain of a mother entirely of course.

It hurts my heart a little that she must feel so ignored.

It doesn't fit their narrative. See it on here too all the time. If something happens to disprove their stance, they ignore it.

Gosh that Khan quote. What hypocrisy, again. Yes loads of stuff coming up. Not looking good.

Oh dear.
The so called disappearing messages between Darren Jones and Mandelson have been leaked to the Spectator.
Jones has blamed Mandelson for the leak.

In another message he discussed plans for economic growth being overseen by Rachel Reeves, the chancellor, Jonathan Reynolds, then the business secretary, and Angela Rayner. He said the prospect “doesn’t fill you with confidence”.

Darren Pocket Money Jones blamed Mandelson for the leak? Like, the leak is the problem and not him offering soothing tones and simping for the paedophile apologist and dodging dealings Peter Prince of darkness Mandelson?

Jones is such a dick.
