A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙* *

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

@justasking111 oh I hope the exercises are help - I found physio very helpful with a couple of big injuries. I had to go private for that though.

Re- the London event, the police will probably give an estimate. I think it's fewer people this time than last time, but last time the journalists I rely on reckoned about 200 - 300k while police estimated around 100 K. Aerial pictures from last time were quite overwhelming. This time I think there may have been signal jammers in use.

@Nuthatch26 I love the word "mooch"

@NoWordForFluffy hello!

I went out with just two local people to the pub this afternoon. No political chat at all thankfully. We weren't there for long.

I find people a lot less chatty than usual, but I genuinely think people are using up a lot of their social and emotional resources online. Probably best not to get me started! 😂

We need sunny days. We need vitamin D. DH normally lives in shorts from May to October. He's in thermals again 🤬

I know. It's bloody freezing for May isn't it. Winter coats and central heating here. We had loads of hail last week.

Thanks.
Is that the earliest date it can happen, or have the govt set it at 18th June?

A Blairite, a Brownite, and a Corbynite walk into a bar.

”Good evening Mr Burnham” says the barman.

Haha, thats a well known joke locally. Very fitting for current events.
Burnham has definitely been on a journey.

That date was in the DT this morning. I did get the sense at the end of last week that they wanted to get on with it @Nuthatch26

So really June 19th - early hours - is the date for the diary

I'll get back on the horse and read the papers tomorrow. I'm determined not to read any politics today so I need to put my phone down so I'm not tempted. 😂

Have a nice evening all. I'm home alone tonight so going to watch Believe Me with a tin of M&S peanut butter and jelly munch.

Enjoy @Nuthatch26it’s good to have a break.

We’re watching The Pitt here, love it so much. Has anyone seen it?

No not yet. I might dip into Rivals if DH goes to bed early. Watched Dutton Ranch last night. I just couldn't get into it, nor Yellowstone. Annette Benning was very good though.

I couldn’t get through Yellowstone either, I just find the redhead actress too much.

@EasternStandard no but heard rave reviews about the pitt. Im tempted but squeamish when it comes to surgery

It's the poor diction, mumbling. It started with a prairie fire. I never worked out if their ranch burned down. Didn't figure out why that guy was shot. Nah it's a miss for me.

Ooh thanks for reminding me about Legends. I might watch that too. I have a feeling Believe Me will be quite upsetting so will probably only watch one episode, then switch to something else.

That's on my watch list. My late cousin was an undercover agent many years ago. Drugs. He did work overseas. Nasty dangerous job.

I really need to do something about my attention span

I used to love a long TV series as well... the characters in Yellowstone didn't appeal to me though.

I like the look of Legends on Netflix. I've still got to watch season three of The Diplomat.

not heard of Dutton Ranch.

@Nuthatch26 I have a feeling that show will be quite upsetting as well. I'm not sure if I want to watch it. I did watch the Huw Edwards thing in the end. I thought it was pretty good.

I've improved my attention span by putting down my phone. Reading a lot more books and watching series on my tablet or the TV. I rarely watch movies though. Still can't concentrate for that long.

I don't watch much tv either during the week. Its handy to distract and switch off sometimes though.

Love The Diplomat.
Secret Service is really good too, just finished that and would recommend If you like that sort of thing. Its quite a short series too if you're struggling to focus for too long. I'm the same. Haven't watched The Pitt yet.

SapphireCasino · Yesterday 21:08

@justasking111 strangely I can watch films

I think with the TV series that are really long, I end up thinking ahead and asking myself if I really want to watch all of it.

I still find Emily in Paris really amusing - I know a lot of posters really hate it here. Mind you -posters here hate absolutely everything!

I'm definitely in a funny headspace, so I'm sure I will get back into TV. I end up doing whatever I prefer, and I do actually prefer chatting on here a lot of the time. But I don't get half as much personal interaction as I would like in real life, so that's why.

redange · Yesterday 21:08

For all you freezing next week it is going touch 29 (84F) on Saturday 23rd ! it is going to start getting warm by Wednesday all the way through until Thursday 28th May..

SapphireCasino · Yesterday 21:10

@redange oh so are they predicting the warm weather will last more than a week? That's exciting!

redange · Yesterday 21:16

Netweather is predicting a mini 'Heatwave' across the country..

SapphireCasino · Yesterday 21:30

@redange yeah we've got it predicted for the bank holiday weekend, but I didn't think it would last longer than that

I wonder if it will make my brain work again. That would be good.

@Nuthatch26 I must be honest, some of the situations in The Diplomat are losing me a bit. I watched it because there were some key filming locations in there that mean a lot to me personally. I found it quite annoying to begin with, particularly the focus on their marriage.

I thought I had got to grips with everything, but then I thought to myself "where were we at the end of season two" and apart from the obvious - not doing any spoilers - I couldn't remember! I mean in terms of all the international intrigue.

I thought the final scene was excellent, very well put together and very well filmed. That's a season finale! But I'm not sure I would've carried on watching after season 1 if Alison Janney hadn't showed up.

FatEndoftheWedge · Yesterday 22:03

@SapphireCasino it took me months to get through season 3 diplomat !
Just finished it last week and by then I had foegtton plot intricacies.
Legends is brilliant .
Love Emily in Paris ,beautiful sets and light hearted viewing....it's like a glossy magazine.
