A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙* *

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Anti growth - left take down the right of Labour - markets take out left.

On track so far.

I've watched it quite a few times now. If only Kemi could take over.
Hopefully that idea will start taking root with the public whilst Labour show us what they really are over the next few months.

They've shown us what they really are - spiteful incompetents who've collapsed the UK economy and are attempting to impose their Marxist ideology while ensuring their own snouts are firmly in the trough.

Yes, the markets demonstrating why they cannot be ignored.

Yes I understand the politics fatigue thing. I'm just sick of Labour generally though so could be that. They are all feckin useless imo, so I'm struggling to care who takes over.
Reed has done a shift this week hasn't he. Obviously not many ministers willing to go out and bat for Starmer. The new Health Sec appointment is a joke, obviously scraping the barrel. Bollard not strong enough to re-shuffle.

I've been getting more and more annoyed about Burnham's behaviour. Even Jess Phillips has mentioned the entitlement. I hope he loses.

I’m struggling to care who takes over too. Just watching them fight it out. Brief against each other and panic.

Sorry the IG bit was for Kemi, saying she’s great with that ET clip.

Also More in Common guy this morning saying focus groups all pretty come back positively for Kemi too with feedback like she’s says it like it is, classic focus group type stuff. It’s more mn still stuck on liking Starmer.

The harder part is moving people on the actual party.

Edited

If she can keep building her ‘personal brand’ (I hate that term but ykwim) then that is of course a good thing in terms of cut through, but policies and candidates are crucial in the run up to a GE.

I am hopeful that CCHQ will not let anyone stand who does not sign up to what should be ‘red lines’ for the Conservatives. We had (and still have) too many ‘yellow Tories’ so I hope we will see the back of them. I want a full fat Conservative party please. The alternative King’s Speech is a good start.

Kemi has shown her mettle on this by immediately suspending the Conservative council leader who got into bed with the greens and LibDems:

Tories suspend local leader over bizarre coalition with Greens

The Conservative Group Leader on Worcestershire County Council was condemned by his own party this afternoon over the deal.

For some time now, I've been wondering what can be done about all these rubbish dumps that are cropping up all over the country

I've only just realised that a large part of the cost is landfill tax. Introduced by the Tories in the 90s apparently.

That's another thing that it seems to me just needs to go! If you look at the increasing prices, there is that too. But I've always said that government needs to be in the business of sorting bins and broken bones. The rubbish thing has gotten really out of hand.

It adds to that sense of Britain just becoming another corrupt country where the government fleece the citizens all the time. How do other countries manage the rubbish issues? It can't be that complicated surely?

SapphireCasino · Today 11:34

Just to add, the two nearest to me were dumped at nature sites and the weirdest thing was, one of my neighbours didn't realise a load of rubbish had been dumped. She also doesn't realise there's a general problem with it.

So she said to me that she'd gone out to look at this place that she'd heard was a nice nature spot, she cycled there just out of curiosity - and came back with no idea that what she was looking at wasn't normal. She said "I don't get what the fuss is - and it's really dirty".

She's not the sharpest tool in the box, but I had heard from one of mum's neighbours that he'd had to report it because when he cycling past, he saw that someone had dumped a load of rubbish seemingly overnight.

Upstartled · Today 11:37

Yes, @TheNoWord I'm hopeful that might be the case although it will take time and effort to demonstrate to the public that a centre right government can deliver on growth and is the better option than 'the milky bars are on me' left.

I think the best argument for that will follow Starmer as they start the arms race for who can spend all the money first and the cascade of unintentional consequences that will follow.

If Kemi can hold the line while Labour dissolve, then three years might do it.

Unrivalled · Today 11:37

I had to laugh at Reed warning that this infighting would cost them the next election - has he been asleep at the wheel recently? They have nothing to lose which is why we're here, he wasn't doing the government any favours with that cracking line.

I wonder this too. I said before, when Labour got in they should have really focused on the litter/ fly tipping problem. I find it incredibly depressing and cleaning up this would have been a very visible improvement...to everyone.

I'm hopeful the deposit scheme coming in next year will help the litter problem

Yes agree with you and @Upstartled

Labour’s chaos will help. It’s a lot to do, typical sneering on here aside people do rate her, she’s only one person though so a lot to carry. I’d love to see her succeed.

Kemi is in a similar situation to Farage in the 2010s or Charlie Kennedy in the 2000s - lots of voters like her but don't rate her party. Whether her own rating can pull the party up...

She's got the advantage of a platform at PMQs every week, and she's very good at getting under Starmer's skin. Then again, William Hague was great at PMQs.

@Nuthatch26 i'm not sure which deposit scheme you mean?

To be clear, I'm talking about the massive commercial waste that we're seeing. I'm not sympathetic to these people dumping rubbish but I do think we will keep seeing this as long as they have to pay such high taxes. And there's clearly a whole black economy behind this. Another score for the environment agency 🙄

My feeling is that Badenoch went ballistic because she’s been very clear in support of British Jews who are suffering murderous attacks and that the Greens have been cosying up to the ideology of Jew-hatred.

I’m all for shutting out Reform where possible, but not by siding with the Greens.

People advocating support for the Greens generally should be ashamed of themselves. Anti-semitism is bad enough in Labour. The last thing we need is more of it.

Oh I understand you mean the large scale stuff, but general littering is also a big problem.

There seems to be an issue in Worcestershire, from what locals are saying, of a long term feud between Tory councillors. One of those factions is now in Reform, the other is still in the Tories, and the relations are said to be toxic.

It probably works out well for Reform in the longer term. It's a pure Uniparty moment of Tories putting the Greens in charge. And from an opportunistic point of view, Worcestershire was bankrupt when Reform took it over, and this gets them off the hook for unpopular decisions they were going to have to take.

redange · Today 12:22

I think some of the Ministers actually relish the opportunity to fight the 'bond' market as if by fighting they are fighting the oppressors . They, really don't seem to understand that the bond market and price of borrowing is a reflection on their own mishandling and incompetence. They are of the opinion you can 'borrow' your way out of crisis and that eventually the country will start growing magically.

As for the Makerfield By-Election the Conservatives, Restore, Advance and anybody else bear in mind the 5% or so this group combined is a potential nuisance acting against what those voters want.

For the record I think the media are quite wrong in making Labour and 'Burnham' favourites. This is typical thinking and a general belief that 'Working' Class Northerners are thick and do as they are told by their betters . The Southern based media cannot comprehend how hated the likes of 'Raynor' and Burnham are because they believe they are stereotypical Northern People Raynor the uneducated done good girl and Burnham a 'bright' 'Lower' Middle Class boy who got to Oxford !

Yes it’s like shaking a fist at a credit card bill and then watching it tick upwards with extra fines or whatever. Someone might think they’re on an ideological mission but at some point knowing they have to pay more for that luxury will make them sweat.
