A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour* *government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Oh, that doesn't touch the sides with Streeting. He had Julie Bindel no platformed when president of the NUS, for the far right act of knowing women don't have penises. Then he did the whole self I.D witch hunt in the Labour Party, keeping a list of the heretics. And he's mates with Mandelson.

But, he's the least likely to bankrupt us, so there is that.

Albertroad · 10/05/2026 19:52

Probably a silly question but could a Labour peer become PM ie if they put Burnham in the HoL??

Albertroad · 10/05/2026 19:53

Hallowedturf · 10/05/2026 18:11

Was his dad a tool-maker or a carpenter?

Starmer’s on a mission don’t you know - to make us all immeasurably poorer and fucked off.

He has achieved this so maybe now he can fuck off

ShakyBake · 10/05/2026 19:58

This is shambolic , did anyone who voted labour think it would come to this nightmare? They are acting now out of pure self interest.

Surely if they had any self respect of genuine care for the future of the country they would call an election and get in a government who the majority want - Reform .

I’ve wondered that. Google tells me it’s possible. It would feel marvellously old fashioned - like having the Marquess of Salisbury back in charge.

Mind you, dragging the Marquess’s corpse from its grave and installing it in 10 Downing Street would be an improvement on the current occupier.

CandidLurker · 10/05/2026 20:16

I know this has been discussed before but it’s been on my mind today given the chaos. Didn’t they have 14 years in opposition? There just doesn’t seem to have been any plan at all. The first thing they did was WFA which just wasn’t thought through in terms of the impact on low income pensioners just over the limit for pension credit. I knew it would be bad but it’s honestly been a lot worse than envisaged and now they seem to be in utter chaos.

That's why he's my preferred option. I'm sticking my fingers in my ears and going 'la la laaaaa' about his past!

The 'majority' don't want Reform at all. They're polling at about 27%.

While more may want Reform than they want Labour, that does not mean that more than 50% want them.

This thread is the best!
I just love that the best thing to be said about WS is that he is the least likely of this shower to bankrupt us😂

the least likely to bankrupt us is a hilariously low bar, but worryingly accurate.

it's highlighted why it's time for me to step back

Sorry to hear that. I will miss your posts. Flowers
I hope you'll come back when (if) things calm down.

DT reporting that Zach Polanski has been caught lying again. This time falsely claiming that he worked at the MoJ when he was campaigning for election.

How much of his CV is actually true?! 🤔

Who what when? I missed @SapphireCasino saying that. She'd better come back or I'll be very sad.

He's a legend in his own life time 🙄

redange · 10/05/2026 21:29

All this talk of a future for the UK is put into perspective by DD1 blind 'panic' that she won't get a grade 9 on her first English literature paper tomorrow. She is a bit discombobulated, saying she is under pressure from all her teachers to achieve a grade 8 in all her 10 GCSE's .

However, what we are fighting for is that this country does not become some 'third world' segregated society, with an economy that does not function in twenty years time. Also that my three children will not be forced to emigrate to another country.

The fact when considering whether, Starmer should be replaced by Streeting, Burnham, Raynor or Miliband and then coming up with an answer that Starmer is the best of them is utterly desperate. Raynor apparently believes that Starmer and Shabana Mahmood are to harsh on illegal immigrants. This shows that Raynor clearly is in la-la land considering Reform took 17 of the 18 contestable seats on Tameside Council.

DrasticAction · 10/05/2026 23:00

It's probably been mentioned already but Raynor's letter mentions raising the nmw again to get young people into work.

It's diabolical

DrasticAction · 10/05/2026 23:00

Thanks for all the streeting info it's terrifying isn't it !
Absolute nutters.

Probably about as much as Reeves's CV.
