A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Checking in....although I am away this week..wonder if Bollard will still be PM when I'm back!

Thanks for the new thread!

justasking111 · 19/04/2026 22:39

Thanks @WaffleBomb apparently tonights TV appearance of all the Welsh contenders was carnage. Everyone said no way would they vote, plaid, greens or labour. Which just leaves reform and conservatives

SapphireCasino · 20/04/2026 08:12

Hello!
Thank you for the new thread

I must confess, I haven't caught up with the old one

Last time I looked at it, everyone was still talking about Mandelson and Starmer

I find that a weird conversation

I suppose we all have to pretend that things run the way they're supposed to run, but I imagine the following

Mandelson wanted the US ambassador job

The woman who was doing the job got told to go away

There was probably no security vetting because I imagine the security service scramble to do what Mandelson tells them

Starmer was probably told he had to appoint Mandelson and that was that.

Cynical? Me? 😂

Meanwhile, have you seen Zach P saying that those of us on the right just have to be omitted from society or some such?

I haven't paid attention to politics for a few days now. Good thing really.

But I always like to say hello to you lovely folks on these threads 😚

oh my ex-boyfriend has joined Reform. He was quite worried about telling me, but I don't tell anyone what to think. I'm actually not sure what he was worried about, I probably should've asked. I'm trying to keep out of his way a bit though so I don't initiate contact.

DancingFerret · 20/04/2026 09:31

Thank you for the new thread.

Starmer will address parliament this afternoon; I can't wait.🙄

Starmer, Reeves, and now Trump: Democracy ensures we continue to be ruled by donkeys.

EasternStandard · 20/04/2026 09:47

It’ll be excruciating as ever. I’ll have to rely on the funnier version on this thread.

Unrivalled · 20/04/2026 09:48

There you all are! Just caught TRIP clip - sounds like Cambell thinks he’s a goner…

WaffleBomb · 20/04/2026 09:55

Good morning 😁

It's still me, just fancied a name change.

@Albertroad Enjoy your trip away.

@justasking111 Sounds interesting. Was it a televised leader debate?

@SapphireCasino Hello 👋 was wondering where you'd got to. Probably sensible to avoid politics atm, its a bin fire.

I'm not sure I can listen to Bollard this afternoon. He makes me want to throw things. This next few weeks leading up to the elections will be painful as Starmer attempts to save himself.
Looking forward to Olly Robbins tomorrow. Reports that he is taking legal advice as he's adamant that he did nothing wrong.

Good. I saw tribunal mentioned. I’m not surprised. Looks like the bollard’s usual panic and sack could backfire.

Interesting. Does he also think the axe will fall after May?
Listening to someone on Times this morning talking about Burnham on recent manoeuvres. She suggested Labour MPs want Burnham over Rayner.

@WaffleBomb bless you
I miss you guys when I don't post! And I wonder how DelicateDog and DurableDog are getting on 🥰

It does look like a bin fire yes - and we're also in one of those stages where it's hard to get important info

I'm really stressed atm and there's no point adding in news, but I do want some awareness about what's actually going on with the economy and the war and whether there's likely to be fuel shortages etc.

TheNoWord · 20/04/2026 10:53

I have had a name change too for this thread @SapphireCasino and I am happy to report that DelicateDog and DurableDog are just back from a gallop on the beach where they scurried about like mad creatures. Thank you for thinking of them 😍

We are awaiting a visit from the boiler engineer (annual service) so I am getting ready with provisions for DelicateDog who will no doubt be traumatised by a strange human in the house and will insist on copious amounts of treats to alleviate her stress. DurableDog will frisk him for sandwiches and then rapidly lose interest.

It is indeed all a political bin fire, but sadly the ones who started it are still running around with petrol cans and matches saying “wasn’t me mate!"

WaffleBomb · 20/04/2026 10:54

@SapphireCasino Just read ZP's comments about shunning people on the right from society. I stand by my comments that ZP is dangerous.
The left are so tolerant and inclusive. Hmm

Robbins has had his career destroyed by Starmer, i’d go down fighting too - unless a backroom deal is done for him to pop up as a director at a Labour friendly firm or a quango (are there any friendly firms left?) what has he got to lose by defending himself?

ill listen to full trip pod now - only saw an insta clip.

Unrivalled · 20/04/2026 11:42

Robbins may think he’s better off launching legal action himself than waiting for calls to grow for the govt to launch action against him….

WaffleBomb · 20/04/2026 11:52

Just read in The Times that Robbins has not yet been formally sacked. No formal letter with reason for dismissal has been given. This means that unless the letter is given today, Robbins is still employed by the FO and will need dispensation from Yvette Cooper to attend the committee hearing tomorrow. Bizarre.

The civil service must pull together on this.

I see Milliband is doubling down on net zero. It's worrying that no-one is applying the brakes on his green party aims

EasternStandard · 20/04/2026 11:56

OR should go for a big payout. I’m betting he followed process and Starmer as usual is flinging around red faced and panicking.

Unrivalled · 20/04/2026 13:08

The civil service should absolutely stand behind Robbins because it’s a case of ‘there but for the grace of God’…and, Starmer’s thrown them under the bus. If he gets away with it once…

Miliband is a bloody idiot.

I hope OR makes life very difficult for Labour, given the issues!

Edited

Yep they should.

This was bollard in 2022

“Look, there are only two possible explanations. Either he’s trashing the ministerial code, or he is claiming he was repeatedly lied to by his own advisers and that he didn’t what was going on in his own house and his own office.
“Come off it. He really does think that it’s one rule for him and another rule for everyone else.”

Sweating hypocrite that he is.

Looking at some posts we certainly have loyal readers of this thread 😬

Starmer’s woes must be getting to them.
