A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour* *government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Surely Burnham is just not going to be a runner? Nobody is going to wait for him at this point.

And Rayner is fucked due to HMRC slowness (or her own idiocy, as she owes the money, so should just pay it).

Streeting has his best shot right now (and he would be my preferred choice, even with Mandelson issues).

That’s certainly how it looks. Although if Cooper was minded to go for it I think she’d be the best of them (a low bar).

NoWordForFluffy · 10/05/2026 17:54

EasternStandard · 10/05/2026 17:53

Wouldn’t it make more sense to wait and have a proper Streeting v Burnham. If WS goes early he will be up against unhappy AB allies.

But there's no guarantee Burnham will win a seat. How long should they wait? Surely the momentum is now?

SionnachRuadh · 10/05/2026 17:55

Labour did ok in Redbridge at the local election, or at least not as bad as expected. That helps Wes.

The punishment handed out to Labour in the North West raises a very serious question of whether there's a safe seat for Burnham. Bootle may be his best bet, but I wouldn't even want to bet on Bootle.

GiaGia16 · 10/05/2026 17:55

Been out all day - tired! - and still trying to catch but just popped in to say despite his best efforts Starmer is surely gone now isn’t he? It’s a shame, like Farage I wanted him to stay!

Idk Starmer could do the timetable thing and give space to AB to get it together.

This low?! I reckon lower!

FFS, Labour, how can a party be so fucking devoid of fucking talent?

Me neither. It's a bloody risk, isn't it?

But he still has to be elected. That's the risk, isn't it? And Starmer won't give a sodding timetable; he thinks he's the fucking messiah.

Ha true, he really does.
And yes it’s a risk re voting him back to start with.

Yep. And if 🤴 gets back into parliament, Streeting has no chance with the membership against 🤴 if there's a contest.

Labour still went backwards in Redbridge. If Streeting’s vote doesn’t improve by a lot, he’s out.

Upstartled · 10/05/2026 18:04

Odds on Starmer leaving in 2026 are 4/9 now.

Transported back to my teens there! 🤣

(Jordan or Donnie, BTW!)

HAHAHA…

WaffleBomb · 10/05/2026 17:44

Streeting won't blow his chances and wait will he?
He can't win if Burnham is back in parliament.

I think Streeting busts out his moves after Starmer’s big reveal goes south.

Was his dad a tool-maker or a carpenter?

Starmer’s on a mission don’t you know - to make us all immeasurably poorer and fucked off.

Edited

Don’t worry GiaGia - everyone’s allowed one dickhead mate, as they say.

Not our Starmer, though - he’s got lots of dickhead mates!

Really? About New Kids on the Block? It’s a bit late for that.

Well Gordon brown pretended to like the Arctic Monkeys, so there is a precedent

In 2009, while President of the NUS, Streeting posted tweets about wanting to push the Daily Mail journalist Jan Moir, under a train.

Okaaaaaay…

Where have you been? Everyone knows about that! He tweeted about punching Brown and various other nasty tweets. Kitty Corral will blow your mind. Although I think that one is bit of a fantasy. Streeting is not a nice man.

It's probably fair to say none of the current Labour bunch is nice.
