Iran's military warns it will attack if US forces enter Hormuz strait
The head of the Iranian military’s unified command has said US or any other foreign armed forces will be attacked if they enter the strait of Hormuz.
The command warned US forces to stay out of the strait and said its forces would “respond harshly” to any threat, telling commercial ships and oil tankers to refrain from any movement in the absence of coordination with Iran’s military.

The deadlock needs to be broken. The US need to take over the Strait. It will be at a cost but diplomacy has got nowhere. Time is running out for the world.

Well, yes.

And leave the Iranians in control of the Strait?

logicisall · 04/05/2026 09:12

I think the ceasefire > arms sales are separate issues.

I didn't think that it is the ceasefire that is causing the arms sales, but that it makes an opportune time for sales and deliveries, iyswim.

Why not? It's worked fine for years until that orange toddler got involved.

Go home and take your crappy Gerald R Ford with you.

Just for anyone else your original post was:

"The deadlock needs to be broken."

That would then put my response into context.

I amended my reply as it implied all Americans, when I was referring to POTUS.

Why does the US need to take over the strait ? They could just piss off and let the adults talk to Iran.

Remember, it is Trump who has been saying for a while now that it is HE who is keeping it closed.

There was some sort of shipping and trade carried out, wasn't there?
People didn't live in fear.
Aircraft didn't have to be diverted.
Priced hadn't increased.

There's more, but I didn't sleep that well and I'll get banned if I type without engaging my brain.

It is largely their territorial waters under UNCLOS. At least one of the sea lanes anyway. And it was working fine till the Turd started.

It is not the Strait of Trump.

Just like it's not the Gulf of America to the rest of the world.

Once someone explains that to him and gives him his crayons back, life will be easier for his handlers.

How did you get from The deadlock needs to be broken
to The US need to take over the Strait?

Why did 'diplomacy' get nowhere? Hint:timescale
Do you think Iran being twice previously attacked while in the middle of negotiations have any influence on their attitude now?
What do you think will be the 'cost' (you're willing to pay obvs) if, as you suggest, the US takes over the Strait?

I need to change my username, but 'askingquestionsallthe time' is already taken!

Donald clearly antagonising by sending more ships and pretending this is about "helping" when we all know he caused this issue. Ramping it up as ever throwing good money after bad. He has learned nothing, clearly. Let's hope he knows about the damage his big bully weapons will do to his tech bro mates if he kills the internet cables under the sea where he is being a show pony.

It worked. It was even free!
US needs to go.

Apparently he was playing golf over the weekend and was unexpectedly taken off the golf course and whisked away. The WH tried to say it was a routine dentist appointment! But he was due to present golf prizes somewhere and didn't turn up.
Needless to say, the WH has it's own dental facility but that wasn't used.
I honestly think he is being propped up health wise because where would the Republicans be without their useful idiot?

I think it's already been agreed by analysts that the US is not capable of holding - let alone taking - the straits. They have had over 47 years of expert increasingly detailed planning which has always resulted in that determination.

If you want to control the straits, you need to control the entire Iranian coastline. Good luck with that.

Wipeywipey · 04/05/2026 09:45

It is the damage they can cause in the area by being gung-ho with billions in weapons while they prance about that worries me.

He does not actually have that many ships there.
