Schrödinger's Strait - Trump Thread #162A

Spandauer · 19/04/2026 14:58

The Strait of Schrödinger remains open and closed, safe and dangerous, insurable and uninsurable, blockaded and free.

"You put your tanker in, you put your tanker out
In, out, in, out, you sail it all about
You do the Straits of Hormuz and you turn around
That’s what it’s all about!"

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER!

Got overwhelmed by the 🍊💩's idiot fuckery last time and missed out thread #161 so have designated this one as fake #162...A

He Has No Deal, He Has No Dice - Trump Thread #162 | Mumsnet

Old enough to remember whole years in which I barely thought about the American president. Previous thread: [[https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/<u&gt...

Thank you and great post @Spandauer 😆

DancingFerret · 19/04/2026 15:16

Thank you for the new thread.

We keep our boat on the River Hamble, which is opposite the Fawley Oil Refinery. Usually there’s a line of tankers bow to stern all the way down the jetty; this morning there were just three - and they were small. Reality hits.

Thanks for new thread.

@logicisall

To leave space for memes on the previous thread, just want to mention this as a carry over. Quote.

"The TPG1000Cs is the world’s first compact driver for a high-power microwave (HPM) weapon, capable of delivering an extraordinary 20 gigawatts of power for up to one full minute."

The largest power station in the UK, Drax, can produce 3906 MW. That's 6% of the UKs electricity. So they have found a way to fit 5xDrax on the back of a truck ?

:-)

The inverse square law applies.

As always.

You cannae change the laws of physics.

Yup. Vapourware claims to though, all the time.

And on topic in a way, the helium that is needed for superconductors is stuck in the Gulf, cos of Trumps stupid war.

As a matter of interest Jane. Re the pilot rescue, and the planes getting stuck in the sand that @Spandauer mentioned. As you are good at urban legends, is it true that the helicopter loss during the Bin Laden mission was because the mock compound used to rehearse had wire fences rather than brick walls ? And the solid walls changed the downdraft so crash ?

I have a feeling that this rescue will turn out to not be what was claimed.

Ah, yes, another one of those "in 10 years" from 30 years ago.

Room temperature superconductors. Like nuclear fusion, a true paradigm shift.

To paraphrase Gandhi ...

"What do you think about room temperature superconductors ?"
"I think they would be a good idea.."

(To be fair I have heard of relatively high temperature superconductors that can manage with liquid nitrogen. However the materials science to make them into cables/wires is probably about 10 years away.

We're really pushing at the quantum weirdness of the world now.

I have a vague memory of a South Korean team that claimed a new room temp superconductor. The PRC claimed to have repeated the experiment with the same results. But the South Korean team were proven to be frauds. Egg on faces with that.

I believe the PRC are building a Hyperloop. It was reported. Enough said on that :-)

What is this strange language you are speaking @RedTagAlan and @SerendipityJane?

Some of us only went to art skool 😜

One theory is that's a possibility, it led to them encountering a nasty aerodynamic effect called Vortex ring - rather than trying to explain it I'll let you look it up.

I have a feeling that this rescue will turn out to not be what was claimed

If you are about the F-15 personally I've not seen anything to persuade me with a maybe 99% level of certainty that that was anything other than classic Combat SAR using 21st century kit...certainly the conspiracy lot still banging on about the "unbelievable" amount of resources used need to go and read their history....

They were following the Apple model.

I don't have access to the conspiracies. I should rephrase what I said sorry.

"I have a feeling that this rescue will turn out to not be what was claimed by Trump and Kegsbreath. "

I in no way mean to detract from what the professionals did. Full respect to them. It is the Whitehouse that I am very suspicious of.

So the current situation is that the US are stating talks taking place monday evening, but Tehran rejecting a second round of talks on the basis that the US position is maximalist and unworkable?

Weird - my image not showing - just a cartoon, no dodgy stuff...
