What’s your current favourite sandwich?

We had some coleslaw left the other day that needed eating up, so I had it with some cheese in a sandwich. It’s years since I last had a cheese and coleslaw sandwich and I really enjoyed it. It’s my current favourite, even better with a few crisps added in for extra crunch.

Mature cheddar, melted in the microwave, spread over buttered baguette, with a few fresh jalapeños.

Incandescentangel · 27/04/2026 13:46

Toasted pitta opened up with finely shredded salad in the bottom, then minced beef fried with onion and a spoonful of chilli powder, topped with a sauce made of salad cream yoghurt and more chilli powder. Make sure you wear a bib to eat it!

big fat squishy breadcake full of big fat squishy chips, loads of salt and Hendo's. Yum.

Or Fish Finger Sandwich - sliced bread, loads of butter and tomato ketchup

CoastalCalm · 27/04/2026 13:52

Turkey and pease pudding with lettuce and cucumber - for ages now I’ve laughed when my husband said he took turkey and pease pudding sandwiches for lunch , tried it last week and it’s truly delicious

Retrogamer · 27/04/2026 13:56

Cheese and crisps.

OrdinaryGirl · 27/04/2026 14:00

Lurpak and a solidly mid-range lemoncurd. 🍋 💛
Not the nuclear neon yellow 80p stuff, but not the £5.95 pale and oddly cereal-flavoured stuff either.

stripeymonster · 27/04/2026 14:02

A crunchy baguette with tuna, tomatoes, black olives and slices of egg. Sliced cornichons and lots of black pepper to top it off .

Danikm151 · 27/04/2026 14:06

Supermarket CLUB sandwiches

Natsku · 27/04/2026 14:06

Cheddar, sliced pickled onion, with salt and vinegar crisps.

Natsku · 27/04/2026 14:07

Oh but I'm also really into cheese, cucumber, and pickled herring sandwiches at the moment too, but those are only for when I have good bread not plain white sandwich bread,

TheeNotoriousPIG · 27/04/2026 14:09

I remain a staunch fan of 'plain' sandwiches, i.e. bread, butter and bacon or chicken. The most adventurous that I get is steak Canadian (bread, butter, steak and onions). Salad and crisps can go on the side!

MoonWoman69 · 27/04/2026 14:11

Cream cheese and watercress on wholemeal.

ToadRage · 27/04/2026 14:12

Rarely have it now but still love the rare roast beef and horseradish mayo or the ham and mustard mayo from M&S. I have tried to make them but they never taste the same.

Brie and grape is nice, so I can see that.

I often have Cheddar cheese and sliced apple or gorgonzola and a sliced pear in a sandwich.

My all-time favourite sandwiches are rare roast beef and horseradish, or chicken, stuffing and cranberry. No salad. Salad is nice to have with a sandwich, but not in a sandwich.

Even better if you toast the bread first with butter cheese and coleslaw. Delicious

bombish · 27/04/2026 14:19

I like BLT but only when I make it. Coleslaw cheese is another favorite but home made. I don’t like supermarket or Pret sandwiches

KeyleftinCar · 27/04/2026 14:20

Ham cheese and coleslaw. Delightful.

Tarkan · 27/04/2026 14:31

Cheese and salad cream.

BunnyLake · 27/04/2026 14:52

Hellohah · 27/04/2026 11:48

Egg mayo.
It has been and forever will be my favourite sandwich.

I love that too! In fact you’ve just made me go and sort the bread maker out because I’ve ran out of bread, but have eggs and mayo and I want one now (but will have to wait about 3 hours). I was just pondering whether to make bread, so now I will 😁

Harry12345 · 27/04/2026 14:55

Cheese, tomato, spring onion and mayo

BunnyLake · 27/04/2026 15:03

As well as egg mayo I also really like thin sliced beef and coleslaw in a good quality baguette. I don’t eat a lot of beef but I make an exception for that.

Gentlydoesit2 · 27/04/2026 15:08

Chicken thigh, grated carrot, grated cheese, coriander, mayo, honey sriracha and leaves
Or
Bacon, blue cheese, redcurrant jelly and leaves

OttersOnAPlane · 27/04/2026 15:14

Ncisdouble · 27/04/2026 11:54

Reuben or Rachel. But very close to roastbeef and horseradish

Is Rachel a Reuben but with pastrami and not corned beef? I love those.

Tuna mayo bagel with dill pickle is hard to beat. Although a felafel and halloumi wrap with all the fixings is nice as well.

OttersOnAPlane · 27/04/2026 15:15

(hot corned beef or salt beef, no corned beef from a tin, obviously)

Just googled "potted haugh" and never have I seen a food that looks more like cat food.

You are right, it really does look like cat food but tastes lovely😁
