What’s your current favourite sandwich?

We had some coleslaw left the other day that needed eating up, so I had it with some cheese in a sandwich. It’s years since I last had a cheese and coleslaw sandwich and I really enjoyed it. It’s my current favourite, even better with a few crisps added in for extra crunch.

Cold roast lamb and english mustard with tomatoes and rocket in brown bread and butter. Lush.

One of the few benefits of being in the office 5 days a week is getting to order lunch. I love anything from Crunch. They do an amazing chicken sandwich with toasted golden brioche, southern-fried chicken cutlet, shredded lettuce, baby pickles, and homemade dill aioli. Yum!

I like them simple and quick to make at home, rarely have them when out n about because I'm a bit fussy about the extra stuff they put in (ready made) sandwiches.

Tuna mayo grated mature cheese
Egg mayo spring onion, or a dash of onion salt
Mature cheddar and cheese n onion crisps
Mature cheddar, mayo and branston mixed.

I don't put anything else with the above, so no bits of this and that. What you see is what you get. I won't die from the want of a bit of limp lettuce etc.!

White bread, butter (would rather none than marg), beef, horseradish and lettuce) I’m really fussy, love rare beef but don’t eat any blood on my bread.

Chicken, bacon and avocado

M&S Demi baguette (very specific) with peri peri chicken, hummous and lettuce. Iceberg actually works in this one.

I used to love a proper ham sandwich on granary but IBS has me on only white.

Bit of an odd one but I love marmite and cream cheese.
I also love an onion sandwich. Onion and butter.

Where I live fruit is very common in a sandwich. Chicken and grape is very popular.

I’m sure brie and grape was a Pret staple around 20 years ago, but although haven’t been into a Pret for a while I don’t recall seeing it recently. I’m a bit old school when it comes to sandwiches, and am a fan of a (freshly made) crayfish or prawn or lobster sandwich, but wouldn’t turn down cold rare beef on granary with some horseradish and rocket, or a fresh steak sandwich, again with horseradish and rocket, but with the addition of some almost caramelised onions. Served in a baguette or ciabatta please!

Oh yes, margarine or any other processed spread in a sandwich is an abomination and I’d also rather have nothing if butter isn’t available :)

Coronation chicken, now, always and forever.

If I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life, it would be Coronation chicken sandwiches.

I had a travesty of a coronation chicken once. It was just chicken in coloured mayo. No apricot jam/mango chutney, no slivered almonds, no sultanas. Hardly any curry paste in it. It was just yellow chicken mayo.

Specialist sandwich shop who usually do better than that too.

It’s been a while since I’ve had a cheese and coleslaw sandwich, such a good sandwich filling!!!
have you tried the Tesco cheesy coleslaw? So yummy!!!

FrenchFryFrances · Today 12:28

Baguette with shredded chicken, Caesar dressing, a bit of mayonnaise, crispy bacon and romaine lettuce.

Baguette with humous, grated carrot, sliced black olives and lettuce.

Roast beef and mustard with rocket, on fresh buttered, white bread. Proper bread though nothing that comes in plastic or is pre sliced.

A crusty roll with cream cheese, grated carrot, raisins and lettuce.

rumred · Today 12:29

Homemade cheese and onion. Best ever sarnie.

onwardandupwards · Today 12:30

Nuttella and banana at the moment

I can't believe I forgot the boxing day toastie.

All leftovers from Xmas Dinner, so turkey stuffing, sliced pigs in blankets, roasties, veg, slice of cheese, wanged in the toastie maker.

Incredibly messy to eat, but so good.

GloiredeDijon · Today 12:40

Cheese and marmite is my favourite today, yesterday and forever!

ScottBakula · Today 12:45

I have just sat down to my lunch at work.
I normally take hot food but I fancied a wrap this time.
Mixed leaf salad, yoghurt & coriander, cucumber, peppers , red onion, beetroot and tandoori chicken.

I just love a classic Aussie salad sandwich that you get in places like fish and chip shops as well as bakeries.

White bread. Shredded iceberg lettuce. Grated carrot. Cucumber, tomato, perhaps a slice of cheese and always, but always, either sliced pickled beetroot or a pineapple ring.

Never taste the same in the UK somehow.

Lately though I've been having hummus, sundried tomato and black olive bagels.

That sounds so nice!!

Roast chicken and Waldorf salad in thick sliced wholemeal bread, yum!

Too many to list but always eat it like a lady 😇

Egg mayo mixed up with chopped salad - cherry tomatoes, cucumber, radish, red onion and salad leaves.

Rumbledethumps for us. Everything chopped roughly, mixed and pressed into an oven dish for 30 to 40 mins at 180° or thereabouts, or until the top is nicely browned. Lovely with brown sauce. 😋 My dad chucks it all in the frying pan on Boxing Day. Yummy either way!

SisterMaryImmaculate · Today 12:53

Prawn baguette with crisp salad and a bucketful
of Marie Rose sauce. Delish.

Pallisers · Today 12:54

Egg salad (lettuce onion mayo) on soft roll with crisps. I only eat it if I make it myself and am entirely alone.

My BIL fries his after xmas sandwich in gravy.
