What’s your current favourite sandwich?

We had some coleslaw left the other day that needed eating up, so I had it with some cheese in a sandwich. It’s years since I last had a cheese and coleslaw sandwich and I really enjoyed it. It’s my current favourite, even better with a few crisps added in for extra crunch.

Breville. My DB still has one.

Big shout out for the m and s beef sandwhich from their top range. Loaded with beef and the horse reddish blew my nose off

Beetroot hummous, with extra beetroot, rocket and horseradish or wasabi.

I am going to make this! With Tahini, lemon juice and Greek yoghurt.

I haven't had a crisp sandwich since I was at primary school over 40 years ago, when we'd eat the filling in our packed lunch sandwiches and replace it with crisps. *

• Fine if the filling were something like cheese or ham, not so if it were e.g. banana or jam. Yes, we had jam sandwiches in our packed lunches. It was the 70s, what of it? 🤷‍♀️

Egg mayo, smoked salmon and rocket. Delicious. I do love a tuna mayo too 🤣

Bakery bread, something like a multiseed but not wholemeal - too healthy. Two thick slices, toasted and slathered with unsalted butter. Best quality thick sliced smoked back bacon, two or three slices fried with rind on which is cut off after cooking. (And eaten separately.)

Then a home grown tomato or two, again thickly sliced and seasoned. Bit of a theme going on here.
Assemble in no particular order, cut in half and eat while still warm.

Granary bread
Thick salted butter
medium cheddar
sliced tomato
lots of salt and black pepper

I've been fancying an old school egg and cress sarnie lately. You don't see cress in the shops so much these days, do you? 🤔
I might have to grow my own.

Right, I'm on my own tonight so I'm not bothered to cook a dinner. But I have two hard boiled eggs, a bit of leftover poached salmon and extra mature cheddar. Nothing else like salad bits (but have mayo, branston, and other bits in jars), and I'm not bothered either, I have some home made brown soda bread in the freezer, it's sliced so it should defrost easily with a little help from microwave.

So what shall I make, and what would you make. I can buy bits on the way home.

I'd do poached salmon and mayo, a bit of baby spinach if you can get it. Bit of lemon juice, black pepper and the bread you have for a tasty sandwich. I might also buy crisps.

Coronation chicken or plain chicken on white bread with English mustard.

Cream cheese and Frazzles. I'm not pretending it is fancy but it IS delicious.

Currently sweet chilli and tomato relish, thick sliced ham, a little grated mature cheddar and iceberg lettuce. On a white baguette.
Or soft cheese, pref a mild blue, sweet chilli and cucumber,

Any sort of sandwich makes me feel sick!
Except a bacon sarnie, no butter.

Sainsbury's used to do a lovely sandwich, crayfish and rocket.

We have a lot of banana and bischoff spread toasties.

Coronation chicken is a fine sandwich but I have fond memories of a Pret one called something like Masala lamb which was sliced roast lamb in a mayo, mango chutney and madras curry paste sauce.

Chicken , bacon, scallion , sliced black grapes, mixed with mayo some black pepper on a toasted bagel !!! It’s Devine !! ❤️

DH is panini mad currently, Cumberland sausage, cheddar cheese and Chili jam.

Bacon and egg mayo or smoked salmon and cream cheese. I used to commute to work by train and would get off in Birmingham and do the short walk to work. I found a posh cafe that sold bagels and tried their smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel. I ended up having two a day and the lady used to make them to order and used to give me massive portions.

Mortadella and roasted peppers in toasted sourdough.

Toasted - chive, garlic, red onion, spring onion mixed with s strong cheddar and toasted on a frying pan.
Fresh - mozzarella, tomato, basil and mayo on ciabatta gently heated
Love a BLT too - but the bacon has to be baked in the oven so it's crispy - wouldn't object to a bit of avocado if it was kicking around the fridge.
And if I need to relive my childhood nostalgia of sandwich on the beach with a cup of strong tea I'll have the softest white sliced loaf filled with a mixture of butterhead lettuce, tomato, spring onion, ham and salad cream - the bread needs a generous spreading of salty butter or the world ends.
