What’s your current favourite sandwich?

We had some coleslaw left the other day that needed eating up, so I had it with some cheese in a sandwich. It’s years since I last had a cheese and coleslaw sandwich and I really enjoyed it. It’s my current favourite, even better with a few crisps added in for extra crunch.

Is Rachel a Reuben but with pastrami and not corned beef? I love those.

Tuna mayo bagel with dill pickle is hard to beat. Although a felafel and halloumi wrap with all the fixings is nice as well.

It is. We actually now make our own salt beef so have more slightly bastardaised reuben. We also always have sauerkraut going.

I love a Tayto crisp sandwich.
White sliced pan, Irish butter and cheese and onion flavoured Tayto crisps.
Very calorific so I rarely have it.
What’s seldom is wonderful.

Whattheduck · 28/04/2026 11:24

Grated cheese with chopped up spring onion and mixed together with Heinz salad cream on granary bread

DilemmaDelilah · 28/04/2026 19:15

Oooh - I really fancy a sandwich now.... Crusty white roll, with butter, really good ham, and home made coleslaw.

Malasana · 28/04/2026 19:25

Ham and egg with salad and salad cream on some lovely granary/seeded bread.

Villanousvillans · 28/04/2026 19:28

Cheddar cheese, lettuce, red onion, cucumber and mayo. On crusty white bread.

ClassicalQueen · 28/04/2026 19:49

Egg mayo or tuna mayo. Simple but effective.

Acornsoup · 28/04/2026 19:53

Beetroot, hummus, grated carrot and Corriander 🤌🏼

ButterYellowHair · 28/04/2026 19:55

Extra mature cheddar on my homemade sourdough with chilli tomato jam, fresh tomato and spinach. Lovely.

And always a Club sandwich with fries and a Diet Coke

Bit of an odd one but I love marmite and cream cheese.
I also love an onion sandwich. Onion and butter.

Oh yes, the onion sandwich. Thick white bread and the onion has to be sliced very thinly but there has to be a lot of it. Only to be eaten at home.

rightoguvnor · 28/04/2026 20:29

I’m really enjoying an old school cheese and cucumber at the moment.
But I also like grated cheese, raw onion and mayo all mixed together, bloody lovely.
But then I remember tinned salmon with plenty of vinegar and white pepper…

Cheersminesalargeone · 28/04/2026 20:52

Chicken, cranberry sauce and mayo😋

SanFranBear · 30/04/2026 12:05

I know this has quietened down now BUT following your OP, @Yourinmyspot, I had some fancy M&S beetroot, apple and red Cabbage coleslaw left over from a meal I'd made for me and my bf last night so just had it in a warm pitta with red leicester cheese... OMFG - incredible and I could eat it all over again and it still wouldn't touch the sides!

Thanks for reminding me this fabulous combination exists!

Villanousvillans · 01/05/2026 04:04

I probably eat too much cheese. My other favourite lunch after a cheese salad sandwich is cheese on toast, with red onion and tomatoes. I kid myself that it’s healthy because of the tomatoes.

Tomatoes always come out hotter than the sun!

I do like a ham, cheese and mushroom toastie though, I lived on those as a student.

Scoop out the seeds, chop the tomato instead of slicing it and drain it (salted if you like salt and have time)

It's the water that retains the heat. These will be edible sooner and the bonus is that you don't get a slice of hot cheese and tomato on your arm if your teeth don't go right through

Trust me, I'm a professional 😁

(Had my own toastie business, after loving them since before they were a thing in the UK)

Cheese and marmite

That's the greatest ever toastie combination.

Owly11 · 01/05/2026 07:17

Cheese and pickle or cheese and tomato so long as the tomatoes are not straight from the fridge but beautifully ripe and sweet at room temperature.

aSpanielintheworks · 01/05/2026 07:36

I like grated cheese, chopped apple and mayo mixed together in a wrap

JonathanGirl · 01/05/2026 07:40

My favourite simple sandwich is mature cheddar, sliced tomato, Colmans English mustard on a crusty white roll.
It will never let you down.

Hellohah · 27/04/2026 11:48

Egg mayo.
It has been and forever will be my favourite sandwich.

Made with salad cream NOT mayo. 🤤

I couldn't be arsed with all that faff! I like tomatoes, but not in cheese toasties - I stick with chutney and onion.

Plumbs · 01/05/2026 10:09

Chicken with pineapple. Odd but my best friend made me try it so thank you friend.

mondaytosunday · 01/05/2026 11:17

Sausage with garlic mayo and ketchup on (and this bit is crucial) sesame seed brioche burger buns from Lidls. They are so squishy and yummy! I eat it with gherkins and so moreish I might have to stop going to Lidls full stop.

mondaytosunday · 01/05/2026 11:19

But my favourite all time sandwich is Brie, crispy bacon and apricot jam on squishy white bread, microwaved to melt the Brie. One gooey sticky mess but soooo good. Cream cheese can be used as an alternative but better on toast as you can’t microwave it.

UnctuousUnicorns · 01/05/2026 11:19

@mondaytosunday

Mayo and ketchup? Now come on, that's just wrong!
