Which is you favourite city in the world? I have three
Bristol - for the music scene, creativity and independent spirit
Munich - for the lakes, cycling culture, climate
Marseille - for the beaches, proximity to Provencal towns and landscape, diversity, and the fact it is in France

I have soft spots for Liverpool, Bristol, Edinburgh and Prague but London has my whole heart.

LightDrizzle · 20/04/2026 00:12

Granada!

littlecreeature · 20/04/2026 00:13

London- travelled around the world and this city is still my number one.
LA.
Cape Town.
Could return to these time and time again or happily live in.
Also loved Krakow.

Not the point of the thread but I have visited two cities I’ve intensely disliked- Miami and Cologne.

It just goes to show we're all different!

I hate Bristol with a special passion, it's on my 'worst places in the UK list'.

English cities, Sheffield & London, for different reasons.

Love Edinburgh, but Glasgow gets an honorable mention.

Wales? St Davids!

Belfast is also well worth one's time.

Europe? Agree with Naples, just so much life there, adore it. There's something around every corner.

NYC, if you don't like, you don't like life!

Buenos Aires, incredible.

Seoul, bonkers for a western European.

London. I have lived in it for over 25 years and still discover interesting things to do in it. I also love Paris and New York.

Goonie1 · 20/04/2026 00:15

UK - Edinburgh
non uk - Athens

Waitingfordoggo · 20/04/2026 00:15

Seville. Or Vancouver twenty years ago. Love London too.

OnlyFrench · 20/04/2026 00:16

Paris. Just walking around is enough, I don’t need anything else.

suburberphobe · 20/04/2026 00:16

UK, London without a doubt. So much to see and do.
Vienna, so majestic, but not sure I could live there.
Cologne possibly.

BootMaker · 20/04/2026 00:21

Ah & special mentions to Lyon & Malaga.

Oh and loved Helsinki too.

Spanglybangles · 20/04/2026 00:26

Glasgow - in my beloved Motherland that is Scotland.
New York, in the 90’s has a special place in my heart.
Vancouver, when it’s not raining!

burblish · 20/04/2026 00:32

London, Rome, Kolkata - all incredible places, for different reasons.

Savvysix1984 · 20/04/2026 00:32

London. Took my New York obsessed teen to nyc recently and we had a great time but she agreed and said London was so much better.

LettuceAndCarrots · 20/04/2026 00:32

Cambridge.

I also like Cape Town, Rio, Paris, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Toulon, Bruges.

Yellowcakestand · 20/04/2026 00:33

Madrid. Been 3x. Seen different things each time.

Aintgointogoa · 20/04/2026 00:34

London.
Paris.
Tokyo.
Most of my young adult to older adult life in London. All before gentrification. Left for good 8 years ago.
A large tranche of time living in Paris and France overall. Job in Paris and French boyfriend (sigh.....happy days !) Also before gentrification.
Tokyo was a 'coup de foudre' and I went 3 times for long visits when my son lived there.

Theresmagicwheretheflowersgrow · 20/04/2026 00:37

Oh, you only like Vancouver a couple of days a year?!

MrsAvocet · 20/04/2026 01:10

Too difficult to choose! My favourite British cities are Manchester and Glasgow. In Europe I'd go for Berlin or Milan. Further afield, Kochi.
But I wouldn't want to live in any of them - I'm a country bumpkin at heart. I love visiting different place and can understand the appeal of city life but I am always glad to come home.

Seacatt · 20/04/2026 01:11

Edinburgh
York
Cork
Vancouver
Bled (actually a town but I loved it there and the whole of Slovenia)
Dubrovnik

UhOhRatPoo · 20/04/2026 01:17

Ho Chi Minh aka Saigon.

AlcoholicAntibiotic · 20/04/2026 01:39

UK - London, Newcastle, Belfast

Non-UK - Vancouver, Melbourne, Singapore

I’ve found a lot of European cities to be fairly disappointing, although I did - weirdly - quite like Frankfurt.

katscamel · 20/04/2026 03:31

Istanbul, I lived there for a couple of years and it got into my system, things have changed unfortunately but it still has .. something. I also love the craziness of Tokyo, Ottawa and Valencia.
