Which is you favourite city in the world? I have three
Bristol - for the music scene, creativity and independent spirit
Munich - for the lakes, cycling culture, climate
Marseille - for the beaches, proximity to Provencal towns and landscape, diversity, and the fact it is in France

Uk - Leeds and London
outside - Copenhagen, Barcelona, Brisbane, Kyiv (pre invasion 😭)

Hiroshima ❤️

London - best city in the world!

Lemonthyme · 20/04/2026 07:04

Berlin. I mean you cannot beat it for history but also it's just incredibly chill, not expensive, good food if you go for the brilliant Vietnamese stuff and some brilliant museums (the science museum is our fave). If you like going out etc, it's very tolerant and chill. I speak a little German too so I'm probably a little biased because I find it easier.

Krakow. I absolutely loved it there

Thinking of going soon. Any tips of what / where to visit?

numberblocks54321 · 20/04/2026 07:05

London. Lived there for 5 years in my 20s and although it’s exhausting I really do think it’s the best city in the world.
I also love Rome and have a huge soft spot for Belfast

Bebeandgang · 20/04/2026 07:10

Rome but we have two small children now so won't be back for a while yet. I've agreed with the DH to go for my 40th in a couple of years and leave the kids with gran. We've done all the touristy things so it'll be a very different trip to before - just relaxed strolls and lots of food and drink.

London is the best city in the world. I have lived here for the majority of my adult life and travelled a lot. Nowhere compares!

TubeScreamer · 20/04/2026 07:28

Boston

Maddy70 · 20/04/2026 07:28

Liverpool and brugge

London

so grateful to live here 🥰

illuminada · 20/04/2026 07:33

Valencia

Takoneko · 20/04/2026 07:34

I love London.
Outside of the UK, probably Osaka.

Dinggirl · 20/04/2026 07:34

London (lucky enough to live a 20 minute train ride from it) York, Budapest, Bordeaux which I found more laid back than Paris

Istanbul, I lived there for a couple of years and it got into my system, things have changed unfortunately but it still has .. something. I also love the craziness of Tokyo, Ottawa and Valencia.

Valencia is only really crazy during Las Fallas in March!

I love it as I lived there as a student. It has everything - history, architecture, museums and galleries, markets, a compact city centre, beautiful parks and gardens, beach and an airport nearby. There's lots more too.

EasternStandard · 20/04/2026 07:38

London

Oh, you only like Vancouver a couple of days a year?!

Haha right! Love the place really, but it’s so much nicer in the sun. Weather actually looks pretty decent currently. Looking forward to my next visit this summer 😊

Bubblebathbefore8 · 20/04/2026 07:39

Chester - fantastic eateries, lovely Roman walls, Welsh mountains nearby, train links v good and airports handy.

themaestroat50 · 20/04/2026 07:39

Manhattan.

MikeRafone · 20/04/2026 07:40

Sydney, feels clean and lots to do with beautiful architecture imo

Oldglasses · 20/04/2026 07:41

London cos I live here and there’s so much on offer, plus amazing history.

Places I’ve been I have really loved (some may have changed in the interim):

Melbourne
Stockholm
Oaxaca (not really a city!)

Brighton (sentimental as my grandma lived there and I always enjoy a visit - I know a lot of people slag it off)

used to love Paris but I wasn’t keen last time I went.

MikeRafone · 20/04/2026 07:42

I stayed in Vancouver for a month in 1988, it was over Xmas, my second favourite city

Zoflorabore · 20/04/2026 07:43

Going to add one more as Ive not said a European one and that is Cologne.

a pp said they didn’t like it and a couple of others said they love it.
it is very sentimental to me because my late dgm was born in Cologne and lived there during WW2 where she was in Hitler Youth, all youngsters were and they didn’t know what he was like at that time.

I went with her many years ago and instantly felt “at home”
sorry for hijack

Marseille is a bizarre choice. I found it to be a very rough and intimidating city.

Best cities I’ve experienced in no particular order and for very different reasons would be Melbourne, Edinburgh, Berlin, and Torshavn.

Not as bizarre as Bristol to be fair! Confused

Mine is Copenhagen.
