A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

I totally agree. Scrutiny shouldn't be avoided in this way. It just makes him look guilty, IMO!

Now some guy saying the MPs who didn’t toe the line don’t count etc so why whip at all if everyone agrees?

It’s because MPs are meant to represent constituents and 61% want him to face the committee. Lack of democracy and decency.

I did the maths on this. If all of them (Labour MPs who voted for and those who didn't vote) lose the whip, it reduces the government majority to a rather more slender 40! Interesting times. (And shows how idiotic it was to make it a three line whip to start with.)

Starmer is a dictator who's losing control and spiralling at this point. 'Stability' indeed.

I don't think he is spiralling

I think this is actually part of a well thought out strategy

The intransigence and the gaslighting make people think "oh my God, we cannot get rid of this guy".

I know I'm just repeating myself, but there is a very dark force to play here and it knows exactly what to do and how to play.

The media are scrambling a bit, had to switch off Times radio, but what they won’t be able to ignore is votes next week.

I think Kemi should stay, she’s liked more than other leaders and is building a pretty good up tick. Obviously diehard Labour won’t like her but that’s no bad thing, she’s getting it right.

I disagree. The amount of control he's asserting shows that he knows the net is closing in. IMO.

How did the independents/Gaza MPs vote?

SapphireCasino · 29/04/2026 13:43

another stabbing in Golders Green

Honestly, what's been done to this country

I lived in Golders Green in my early 20s. Lovely place, lovely people. Very different now, of course.

For the motion (so against Starmer).

Upstartled · 29/04/2026 14:06

I think Kemi did really well in pmqs today. She had Reeves so incensed she was pointing a finger across the house in a way that reminded me of the school chorus...'she fell over, she fell over". It was always me, btw, I was a seriously clumsy kid. Starmer is completely rattled. Roll on next Thursday.

It's bloody terrifying, isn't it. I can't believe we love in a day and age in which Jews are being hounded by nutters and we have political voices shrugging and mumbling about perceived threats.

Good the more rattled the better.

This is awful. Starmer’s platitudes are just empty words.

The police are about to make a statement about Golders green stabbing. What's the betting they'll fudge it

EasternStandard · 29/04/2026 16:03

Listening to the press conference, people are angry. I feel for them.

WaffleBomb · 29/04/2026 16:12

Just heard the news. Shocking - again!

I flicked the news on to see the local Labour MP being drowned out by people shouting 'shame on you'.

Hear hear.
Nothing 'perceived' about it is there.

I missed PMQs today - currently in the trenches with A level mocks.
Glad to hear that Kemi did well. I'll try and catch it later.

Don't worry it's just a guy with mental health issues and a history of violence. So no need to worry that he's a terrorist - because they are all pacifists with a well functioning inner world, presumably?

EasternStandard · 29/04/2026 17:25

The clip is really awful, you just know the man has led a peaceful life contributing to society and then that.

WaffleBomb · 29/04/2026 17:43

Ikr! I'm sure he's a good egg really, we just need to work on our 'perception'. Angry
At least Mark Rowley mentioned the extreme right AND the extreme left in the same breath today.

That too. I just saw the clip of the 70 year old and thought I bet he’s had a life contributing to society.

The criminal, I have no words. Such horrendous targeting of innocent people.

redange · 29/04/2026 19:54

'Horrendous' . However, why has this 'attack' been Labelled as Terrorism when so many other obvious Terrorist attacks have been called incidents of Mental Health.
I wonder if Starmer, Rowley and Khan realised any more denials, about motives or reasons for Anti Semitic or general attacks would defy belief.

Alternatively, maybe the Government and Police, are getting in their defence, before the almost certainty, that a major loss of life is likely from a 'Major' attack is due !

redange · 29/04/2026 20:03

Regarding, Mark Rowley and Extreme Left and Right . If Rowley identifies Tommy Robinson and certain elements of Restore/Advance Britain as Extreme Right. Well all those groups have not committed or advocated for violent attacks. Most of these groups seek to go back to the 1960s/70s where the UK was a more 'mono' culture but with the advantage of being a cohesive and safe society.

This, belief may be 'outdated' and seen as not 'progressive' but it in no way do these type of belief make someone extreme. On the other side somebody with a 'Masters' Degree waving banners on a March calling for the destruction of the State of Israel is an 'Left' Wing extremist.

WaffleBomb · 30/04/2026 07:35

Morning.

Just popped in the shop on my way to work. The newspaper stand had all the front pages on display showing pictures of yesterday's attack. So depressing.

CandidLurker · 30/04/2026 08:12

The chap in the brown shorts and green jacket was an absolute hero in my view. He seemed to be the one who sat on the attacker and pulled his arm out so together with one of the policeman, they could try to get the knife out of his hand. The other policeman was giving the attacker a couple of kicks to the head.

there’s been the usual complaining about the kicks to the head. Totally warranted in my view. He’d been tasered but wasn’t fully restrained and still had a knife in his hand.
