A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Yep they should.

This was bollard in 2022

“Look, there are only two possible explanations. Either he’s trashing the ministerial code, or he is claiming he was repeatedly lied to by his own advisers and that he didn’t what was going on in his own house and his own office.
“Come off it. He really does think that it’s one rule for him and another rule for everyone else.”

Sweating hypocrite that he is.

I saw that clip played on TV. What a hypocrite, but delicious irony.
Hoist by his own petard has never been so apt.

I don't remember the Labour lot calling for Johnson to stay in post for 'stability'.

What stability? lol.

TheNoWord · 20/04/2026 15:55

From Aubrey Allegretti, Chief Political Correspondent for The Times on X:

"Here are the “lines to take” given to Labour MPs for Keir Starmer’s statement.

Going all guns blazing on blaming the Foreign Office

  • For a 63 week wait between Mandelson being granted DV status to the PM being told by about the UKSV recommendation
  • “An appalling and inexplicable lack of judgement”
- Quoting an Epstein abuse victim to attack Mandelson”"

Kemi currently doing cold rage very well...

Brilliant from Kemi 👏

Starner is a dithering fool. Stuttering and furiously leaving through his folder.

Now Davey sticking the knife in.

I just went yeh! Brilliant from DA

Why didn’t he ask indeed

EasternStandard · 20/04/2026 16:17

So why did he make the unequivocal statement about due process and vetting being thorough when he didn’t know?

That was a lie.

When I find myself agreeing with and cheering on Diane Abbot…WTF

TheNoWord · 20/04/2026 16:39

Lee Anderson kicked out by the Speaker for saying Starmer is lying, refusing to withdraw it, and saying ‘that man couldn’t lie straight in bed!’ 😁

He only said what we all think. Good on him.

do we think Angela Rayner will be next PM ?

Sarahconnor1 · 20/04/2026 17:07

Im just catching up with this.

Diane Abbott asking the question we all want the answer to.

Pacificsunshine · 20/04/2026 17:35

She was great, but so was John McDonald. He said SKS owed his position to PM and MMS, and that is why they got the positions that they did.

EasternStandard · 20/04/2026 17:38

DA can really deliver a great line, she held the house for sure.

Yep, Starmer is a post turtle:

"You know he didn't get up there by himself, he doesn't belong up there, he doesn't know what to do while he's up there, he sure as hell isn't goin' anywhere, and you just wonder what prick put him there in the first place."

I think he and the attorney genaral were positioned years ago.

DancingFerret · 20/04/2026 17:51

Zarah Sultana just kicked out for calling Starmer a bare-faced liar (can't argue with that), refused to go so it went to a vote, which was unanimous.

TheNoWord · 20/04/2026 18:00

Finished now.

Tomorrow’s Matt cartoon:

WaffleBomb · 20/04/2026 18:05

Love the Matt, and also 'post turtle' 👌😁

I can't disagree with either of the MPs who called Starmer a liar. Labour MPs looked stoney faced and left quickly. Bollard didn't have much support behind him.

That was awful for Starmer. Good.

EasternStandard · 20/04/2026 18:07

Yeh the last question and his answer just showed he didn’t convince many of much.

After that I think he’ll go if Labour MPs decide to oust him at some point.

I’m glad he struggled, after what he’s held others to.

No idea. Whoever is popular with Labour activists will be awful for the country though, that I'm sure of.

I wish I could see beyond the hypocrisy and form a reasoned judgment, but I just can't 😞
How anyone can stand in the HoC and say what he did after his attack on BJ for the same thing is utterly beyond me.
I honestly think if Labour had been less judgmental and supercilious in opposition, I might have been more reasonable in my opinions. But I can't forget Yvette Cooper's endless concern about everything (she's learning now that concern doesn't solve problems), SKS's superiority and Angela Rayner's endless carping about everything and everyone. They thought they would be better, and so, unfortunately, did a lot of voters.
I wonder how long Labour fans will be able to trot out the 'The Tories Were Worse' response to everything?

Unrivalled · 20/04/2026 18:12

It’s exactly what I think, he’s a liar, and incompetent. It’s not a or b, it’s both. Isn’t it a question of whether it’s Burnham or Streeting next?

i can’t see Rayner winning overall, some people felt sorry for her over her tax affairs / but let’s face it at best she was a bit foolish, her getting the top job seems unlikely to me, being pitied isn’t a strong position.

The question is whether Streeting is too tarnished by association and whether he’ll do a deal with AB or they’ll go head to head…to my mind anyway.

I listened to TRIP and I do reckon AC thinks KS is toast - no time line but the lady bracknell’s handbag attack is conclusive and clear AC thinks so too, that KS is a shit people manager.

Yeah he's a lame duck now. Its when, not if.

Everything I've read this week suggested that Labour MPs were OK with Starmer staying.
They didn't look happy to me!
