Tumps exact words today!

WTAF? That sounds like he is about to drop a Nuke!

How the hell has the world got here?

Trumps truth social posts sounds more like something that a dramatic gleeful tv presenter would say in a game show. Not something a world leader threatening to blow up an entire civilisation.

Agree or disagree with him and I am in between on occasion, he is the only person who has shown any intent on stopping them building a nuclear warhead, do you think they would think twice about bombing Israel or the US or us because they wouldn’t.

I think his rhetoric was definitely meant as a means to push them forward to negotiate and he wouldn’t have nuked them, he would’ve obliterated major infrastructure like electricity which would he in turn impact them as a civilisation and set them back decades, it is all about interpretation, some on here thought he would nuke them, I saw it a different way.

You are living in fantasy land, nobody has the God given right to interfere in the internal affairs of another State. Iran did not attack first. The nuclear threat is a deterrent, if triggered it will also destroy the country that launches those weapons, don't forget that. It comes with huge consequences and repercussions.

Muffinmam · 08/04/2026 18:40

His latest post (the one that appears not to be drafted by an incontinent, narcisstic pedo) wasn’t written by him.

Vance is refusing to do his job - which is to have Trump removed under the 25th amendment.

In Trump’s previous ramblings he has spoken about coming back for a third term.

Actually, Iran has sponsored terror activities in other countries. But they have not started outright war.

I wonder what Israel had on Trump. It must have been a lot.

The US has a long history of interfering in other countries and removing heads of State.

No one wants to focus on that... because it casts the IRGC in a bad light and we are somehow not criticising them much.

Only criticising Israel for still attacking Lebanon when they were not part of the peace deal hashed out between Iran and the US.

I see your point.
Still bastards though.

justasking111 · 08/04/2026 18:45

Israel seemingly doesn't want a ceasefire catching up with the news tonight. Beirut has taken a battering.

Including 20 attempted terror attacks that were thankfully stopped by our security services.
How bad is that 20 terror attacks attempted.

Of course they don’t want a ceasefire, they want to keep killing, it seems to be a hobby for them.

Honestly Mumsnet,
You are so anti Trump that you can’t see the wood from the trees. You can’t see the bigger picture. Over 30,000 Iranian protesters were slaughtered on Jan 8th & 9th.
Trump is pulling off a major change at the begging of Iranian protesters, they want freedom.

Yes, he’s bluffing, he’s clumsy with words, he’s not articulate, but if he pulls this off, it will be the biggest positive change for Iranians for decades of oppressive, draconian leaders.
Ask any Iranians who have freedom here in Britain (who are not extreme
ists obvs).

As far as I can see the (awful) regime are still very much in charge and doing circuits and bumps around Trump.

How exactly do you think this will lead to democracy and freedom? Especially with a destroyed infrastructure.

He's a militarily illiterate fool and anyone who doesn't see that is just as foolish.

IsEveryUserNameBloodyTaken · 08/04/2026 18:44

Yes I agree.

Clearly Iran should not have attacked Saudi Arabia's East-West Pipeline hours after the ceasefire was agreed.

So, care to explain how and why he told us all that he "obliterated" the Iranian nuclear programme in summer 2025?

There was a treaty in place signed by Obama that was working - and then Trump tore it up because he couldn’t let anything done by Obama stand. Given that the US was supposed to have destroyed Iran’s nuclear capabilities last year, I remain skeptical that anything has changed on that front, or will anytime soon.

The man has the vocabulary of a over dramatic 5 year old.

But yes, those words do indeed sound like a threat of genocide.

Very tense times 😳

Since when has the word ‘genocide’ become common parlance? It’s bandied around without any thought or concept of what it is, & is overused in referring to any ‘conflict’. Populist & woke language only serves to dilute the real horror & terror suffered by targeted groups killed in their millions - let’s keep perspective.

Noononoo · 08/04/2026 19:20

Trump is making deals as he has always done, he is dealing with despots. He got a ceasefire. He is just president for a couple more years. Western democracies don’t have lifelong leaders and presidents like Iran, Russia, china et al. Be careful what you wish for. Israel too is a pluralist liberal democracy fighting for its survival. There are 53 Muslim countries just one Jewish one under severe threat. Antisemitism has not been as high since the holocaust. Jews have the right of a safe homeland in Israel which offers a home to any Jew anywhere something they didn’t have till after their mass extermination by Germany less than a hundred years ago. Never again , everyone swore and now antisemitism is rife. Remember over 6000 Palestinians from Gaza invaded a peaceful music festival in Israel and horrendously raped murdered tortured and took hostage over 1000 young innocents and vowing they would do it again.
No one believed Trump would destroy a civilisation. His reckless hyperbole is never followed through but it pales into Insignificance when you consider the erasing of the voice and agency of the female sex in Iran already tens of thousands of them slaughtered for protesting and daring to show their hair. This isn’t happening in a vacuum. I know what side I’m on as horrendous as the battle is. I’m tired of the BBC forever targeting the US and Israel for every misdemeanour completely overlooking the bigger free picture.

Yes. In the 50s they removed Mossadeq because he wanted to use the wealth of Iran for his own people. They replaced him with the Shah who imprisoned and tortured many people. Iranians hated the Shah which is how we ended up where we are now.

It's not woke language, it has a very clear legal definition. And jurists would agree that Trump's words would appear to amount to a threat of genocide. It's the fact that certain nations and leaders are threatening whole peoples that means the word is being heard more, sadly.

But a criteria for genocide had never been dependent on the numbers of people killed. You can have a legally-recognised genocide with, in fact, no-one or very few people killed . I would suggest what Trump was threatening comes under a the first three of these points.
Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide
Article II
In the present Convention, genocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such:
Killing members of the group;
Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;
Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;
Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;
Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.

So the Rwandan genocide wasn’t a genocide in your view as the numbers weren’t high enough? You are making up your own definition, there is already a perfectly adequate one.

The reason the word is being “bandied” about is because Israel is in the process of committing genocide and Trump is threatening to commit genocide. The issue is the killing, not the use of a word.

Which part of- ‘A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again,’ doesn't sound like threatening genocide to you?

About 10 years ago I had a vivid vision of a nuclear attack, it happened in the midst of a western looking city. As a ‘witness’ at ground level it was like sudden blinding white fire and light all around, followed by a blast of huge magnitude it levelled the whole city instantly. A few years after I heard another (imo reliable) person of faith who had the same vision. I didn’t know which city it was in mine, but this other person saw nuclear attacks against the US (multiple strikes), as they had a view from above and saw the whole country. I shared this on a thread last year, but (as my username suggests) am fully aware it will just be discounted as nonsense. I was honestly hoping it wouldn’t happen but with the way the world is going it seems more probable than ever.

Not that anyone will be interested as MN is generally anti faith, but there are so many young children having visions right now, of end times events and what state the world will be in. A few accounts described the earth looking totally blackened/ scorched, no trees or animals, like severe fire damage.

rainingsnoring · 08/04/2026 06:57

What strategy would that be? 🤔

Exactly.

The strait was open. Trump went to war, cost US billions of dollars along with thirteen American lives. Strait is now re-opened and Trump will now pay to use it. Thats ome win for the greatest negotiater ever alright.

As for America helping the UK, Trump has already said he 'won't forget' help was offered only after he had 'already won the war'. Trump's America are allies with Israel and Russia.

The days of Europe being an allie are over under US's current reign and Europe and Nato can no longer trust the US. Another 'winning stratergy' for Donald.

Uh, they're scenes in Terminator 2: Judgement Day. It's perfectly possible that anybody worried by current events can doze off and dream something that's been on TV many, many times.
